Former Google Exec Reveals Elaborate UK Tax Avoidance Scheme

Barney Jones, employed by Google between 2002 and 2006, had a cache of emails which reveal an elaborate corporate scheme to move UK profits  to the Bahamas, by booking contracts with British customers through its Dublin office.   He claims that Google dodged hundreds of millions of pounds in taxes over a decade, using this diversion.

Google insider exposes ‘immoral’ tax scam | The Sunday Times.

We see that the lefties are quite attentive to minimizing their tax burdens.

Hacker Leaks Benghazi Emails

The hacker, Guccifer, who broke into email accounts of various people associated with government, has begun to share the goodies with the rest of the world.  We have news of the sharing but will have to wait for such media as Pravda,  Moscow Times, or St. Petersburg Times to let us know what is actually in the emails from Sidney Blumenthal to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Clinton is at this time is making waves by coming out of the closet on gay marriage, perhaps to distract us from the fact that her compatriot’s  email account is not very secure.

It’s worth a look at the Smoking Gun to see just how a Guccifer decided to handle the digital booty obtained from illegal email snooping.   What did former Clinton aide and Hillary’s confidante, Sidney Blumenthal have to say about the Benghazi consulate attack?  Enquiring minds want to know.

It’s Illegal to Unlock Your OWN Cell Phone!

The Public Has Spoken – 100,000 Americans Sign WH Petition on Cellphone Unlocking – Derek Khanna – Page 1.

There’s a new regulation issued by the Librarian of Congress which makes it illegal to unlock your cellphone.

As of January 26, if you unlock a new cell phone  in order to use it with a different carrier, it could land you in jail for 5 years and cost you a half million dollars.

The big phone companies interests are protected by preventing you from changing the settings of your phone.

Who is harmed by this?  Everyone who wants to use a different carrier.  This would include military personnel who unlock their phones to use them wherever in the world they might be serving.

The article linked at the top contains some good language for a short letter to your congressman, if you’re a techie and like to jailbreak and unlock your gadgets.  Check it out!

Holiday PC sales slide for first time in 5 years – Technology on NBCNews.com

Holiday PC sales slide for first time in 5 years – Technology on NBCNews.com.

It’s because they don’t work, and people have to build their own!

Your friendly Pharmer has gotten notice that the Acer computer, which hasn’t been usable since it was purchased last November 1, has been shipped from its second trip to the repair shop.   Meanwhile, this little comment  is being plopped onto the website from the wonderful PC that Pharmer assembled at home.

Getting to the meat of the top linked article:  tablets are selling like hotcakes, but the expected bounce in PC sales that usually comes with the introduction of a new operating system did NOT happen.  Windows 8 failed to inspire.  This might be due to the extra cost of  big touch screens, which are needed to bring out the features of the new Microsoft OS.  Perhaps the tablets are getting powerful enough, more reliable, and more compatible with printers, so that people don’t see so much need for a PC.

Or maybe………….. the desktops and laptops that people are assembling at home are not being  included in the count.

Nerd News: Apple Wins Billion Dollar Lawsuit Against Samsung

A U.S. jury has found that Samsung infringed upon Apple patents. Unlike the decisions in other countries, Samsung lost its countersuit against Apple here. This case has huge implications, but the long term results are unpredictable. Samsung makes microprocessors for Apple. Its a huge company, selling a wide variety of products around the world, and this decision is a setback but certainly not a death knell. Their company officials note that U.S. consumers will lose the cost advantage that comes with competing companies and products in the tech toy market.

The patent battle against Samsung is a facet of Apple’s larger war against Google, which provides the operating system of many of Samsung’s tablets and phones.

Apple’s stock jumped to a new high at the news of the victory.

Google Bans Firearm Accessory Sales on Its Shopping Services

Google Bans Firearm Accessory Sales on Its Shopping Services.

Hamlund Tactical Received a letter from Google Shopping  announcing that it is banning the promotion of firearms, guns, knives and related accessories.  Merchants are to remove such items from their data feed to Google.

You can see other items which Google will no longer allowed to be promoted on its shopping services HERE.

See the new Search tool, called Startpage on the right side of this blog.  A similar one called DuckDuckGo is available.  These allow for private internet surfing, and conceal your isp from the search engines.   It appears that Bing has not followed Google’s lead, so far, and may benefit from the move.

The Google plus 1 button has been removed  from the sidebar.

Avoid Ghettos App: So Leftists Can Keep Pretending the Great Society Plan Worked

Microsoft App To Guide Users Away From High-Crime Areas Proves Controversial « CBS Dallas / Fort Worth.

This proposed Microsoft app, allowing travelers to dodge high crime areas, might have been invented by a techie who only wants to look at pretty things, or perhaps one who had been traumatized by a mugging or carjacking. Pharmer imagines it could serve lefties who want to keep dreaming that LBJ’s Great Society plans actually produced good results.

Multiple headlines came to the mind of your humble blogger.

NAACP assumes that high crime areas = increased Black population areas. Their Official is caught complaining that an app to divert travelers from crime ridden areas means they’re seeking to avoid neighborhoods of predominantly blacks.

Avoid Ghettos App will keep you off of MLK Boulevards. No lie, the NAACP president in Dallas said THIS: “Can you imagine me not being able to go to MLK Blvd. because my GPS says that’s a dangerous crime area? I can’t even imagine that,” .. as if the app dictates where you go.
Just about every sizable city has a road named after Martin Luther King. Pharmer knows the one in Cincinnati end to end, from traveling it before and after it got that name, through high school, the years of research, and pharmacy school, etc. There’s not an app that would keep the rural dwelling pharmacist from driving there, for example to get to the concert she attended in October, just off of that boulevard. What is wrong with Juanita Wallace? She got herself in news that would travel nationwide, dumping on MLK neighborhoods across the country because she apparently views the one in Dallas as a crime ridden area.

NAACP Dallas President Reflexively Connects Crime With Black Neighborhoods. “It’s almost like gerrymandering….It’s stereotyping for sure and without a doubt; I can’t emphasize enough, it’s discriminatory.” Said Ms. Wallace.
The app is designed to avoid murder theft, rape, dope pushers, etc. not Black people. It’s Wallace who is making the connection. Other interviewees are speaking about how the economy of higher crime portions of the cities will take another hit from loss of business and tourism. The one talking about stereotyping is the one doing the stereotyping.
Take the ADVANCEMENT out of that acronym. With representation like that, who needs enemas!
America needs the NAACP like it needs RINOs. USELESS!

Protest SOPA Day

Wikipedia is inconveniencing millions of students today as it lobbies on the internet against the Stop Online Piracy Act.

Pharmer is inclined to side with the likes of Google and Facebook and Wikipedia on this one. The government has created unfunded mandates for all large websites, search engines, etc. which open themselves to contributors, to monitor everything that is placed on their site, or face removal (unsearchability) due to copyright infringement.

The SOPA language is written in a way to allow the removal of any site the government chooses to eliminate. Copyright infringement does not have to be established before the sites are removed. It is damaging to business and to free speech.

Siri Apparently Does Not Refer for Abortions

The iPhone 4s smart phone has voice interactivity with “artificial intelligence” nicknamed “Siri”. Jill Stanek reports: It seems that “Siri” can give you directions to any number of businesses nearby, but when asked for directions to the nearest abortion provider, “she” is not able to find one. See the investigation at the Abortioneers blog.

“Siri” is not so amenable to requests for emergency contraception, but does know where the CPCs are.

This phenomenon could possibly be related to the fact that Steve Jobs had felt thankful to his birth-mom for allowing him to be adopted, rather than aborting him.

Pharmer is hoping that “Siri” keeps her “conscience”.

Media Matters Tax Exempt Status, and Drudge has Phishing Infection.

Media Matters Puts Tax-Exempt Status in Jeopardy – Big Journalism.

Media Matters has been  is actively attacking the functions of tax payers for political gain.

Of interest is its project to stop advertizers from running ads on Fox network, something to which headman David Brock has admitted.

The non-profit is engaging in the same activities that it supposedly was formed to monitor.   It should not have tax exempt status according to IRS regulations, but since lefties control the IRS,  Media Matters, like Planned Parenthood, will retain tax exempt status no matter the extent of their violations.

This mornings entertainment…….. if you go to the drudgereport. a phishing site (such as quizstopweb)  will pop up and ask you for your email and shipping address.   This clutch of phishing sites  comprises  an ip data collector.  Drudge has many things to say that the government does not want you to hear.  Don’t give up on it.   Just try to get around it.

The Drudge viewing app available for ipod and ipad  is much nicer, as it bypasses ads like crazy and does not have a phisher  asking  for your information.   Unfortunately you’ll have to wait until Apple gets its sites back up. Apparently Lion, the new operating system, and its cloud computing goodies are being set up.

Your iPhone is Watching You

iPhone keeps record of everywhere you go | Technology | guardian.co.uk.

There’s a hidden program which  records a log  of your movements (as long as you’re carrying your phone or iPad) and stores them on a hidden file which is then synced with your computer.

You can learn more about your iPhone snooper HERE, and obtain a program which will show you where the file is on your computer and let you see what’s in it.

Apple doesn’t want to tell us too much about this, but insists that it’s not for specfically spying on you, but for use with location based applications.

While you’re having fun with digital data,  Look HERE.
