Santorum’s Support of Arlen Specter – Pro-life Maneuvering?

Playing pro-life political chess – Jill Stanek.

Joel Brind tells the story of  Rick Santorum’s support of Arlen Specter, which many pro-life people thought was a terrible mistake, or a  betrayal.

According to Brind, there was a  story behind the story, and a driving need to keep a Republican senate majority in order to get Bush’s Supreme Court nominees through the Judiciary committee.

The strategic thinking at the time was that pro-lifer Pat Toomey could not carry the election  if he had beaten Specter in the primary, and the Dems could have taken a majority in the Senate.  Santorum’s endorsement was part of a trade with Specter for his promise  to behave himself as head of the Judiciary Committee, and do the job Bush needed him to do.

Brind credits this maneuvering for the placement of Justices Roberts and Alito.   Check that story for yourself and see what you think.

Dana Goldstein: Transfer Oversight of Your Sex Life From Your Boss to the Government

via Obama Birth Control Compromise Defuses Religion Issue – The Daily Beast.

Above linked is an address in favor  of Obama’s new shell game “solution”  to the fight with the religious people of the United States.

It’s just as bogus and unsustainable  as the rest of Obamacare.  Instead of forcing the religious institutions to pay for birth control, abortive drugs and sterilizations, he moves the cost to the insurers, which in turn move the cost back to the employers.  The only change is that the employers do not have to speak to their employees about birth control.   Obama is still making businesses sell specific products,  and making the citizens pay for those products.    UNCONSTITUTIONAL!

Pharmer is  laughing at Dana Goldstein, of the Daily Beast, who think’s its not rational that a woman’s boss has influence over her sex life. She does think it’s more rational that the influence be transferred to the Government.

There are two to three generations of lefties completely convinced that there is a right for humans to have sex, and that someone else should have to fund the activity and the results: erectile dysfunction meds, birth control, sexually transmitted diseases, infertility, child birth, abortions, etc. I think that human rights end where another human begins. Sex involves two people at least, and can make more.

From the Pharmer comes a more libertarian viewpoint. Why can’t people assume more responsibility for their own behaviors and consequences?? The total cost of health care would go down if people knew that they had to take care of their own sex life and its results.

Third party payment is what has made the cost of health care (and education too) skyrocket, with no return on the extra investment. People are almost never good stewards of other people’s money.

Consider this novel idea… people delay sex until they can foot the bills. Birth control should be paid for in cash, and the same for sex enhancers and drugs for erectile dysfunction. People can enter their choice of insurance pools for to soften the expenses for complications of reproduction. That can be handled in a way similar to dental or life insurance. The cost of reproductive health care would plummet.

Certainly this would not appeal to the lefties who are used to trading in all their other freedoms in order to have sex with people they don’t even like, (or with children).

Maybe those who are interested in freedom and self determination should give the idea of personal responsibility another look.

Feeling the Heat White House to Offer Compromise on Birth Control Coverage

Obama to Announce Contraception Rule ‘Accommodation’ for Religious Organizations – ABC News.

Obama is in hotter water than he thought he’d be in, trying to force religiously affiliated organizations to pay for birth control,  abortive drugs and sterilizations.

He’s got a compromise plan to offer, which is poorly described in the media, but supposedly is another way to get birth control from their insurance without the direct involvement of the employers.

The plan sounds like gibberish,  and is not expected to satisfy those who object to being forced to pay for these services for their employees.   The most useful information is that the White House is worried that it has lost considerable voter support because of the birth control edict.

Obama Has Irritated Speaker Boehner

“This attack by the federal government on religious freedom in our country cannot stand, and will not stand,” Boehner, a Catholic and Ohio Republican, said in a rare floor speech,  says  The Blaze.

Let’s see if the House and Senate are able to Override the Obamacare birth control mandate.   Pharmer suspects house can do it, but the Senate had 26 freaks who directly support Obama’s mandate for religious institutions to cover birth control, abortive drugs and sterilizations in their health insurance plans.

The government plan is to have Christians pay the STATIST  DHIMMI  TAX in the form of fines, as a result of being forced to drop health care coverage for their employees.     Interestingly, adherent Muslims may be subjected  to this same situation with respect to  the state, but  (if we compare their response in  Europe)  are much LESS likely to tolerate dhimmitude to the state.

The top linked article mentions that Massachusetts has already been forcing religiously affiliated hospitals  to give out the morning after pill to rape victims, from the time that Romney was governor.    Romney says he vetoed the bill, though he supported the morning after pill for rape victims.

Are Church Confessions Safe? Court To Hear Arguments « CBS Detroit

Are Church Confessions Safe? Court To Hear Arguments « CBS Detroit.

A Michigan State court of appeals will hear a case involving the confidentiality of confession from an accused pedophile to the pastor.

The problem here is that the pastor, Rev. John Vaprezan of the Metro Baptist Church was already ordered to  testify about the confession, which was attended by the mother of the accused.    This confession differs from usual circumstances in that the pastor is said to have initiated the exchange, which was attended by the accused, Samuel Bragg,  and his mother.    The latter two deny that the confession took place.

Initially the testimony concerning the confession was thrown out by Circuit Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway, who cited Michigan law concerning confidentiality of confessions to religious clergymen.

At argument in this case is whether this was really a confession because it was not done in confidence, and not initiated by the “penitent” individual.  At the bottom are Michigan laws which pertain to the issue, and are so broadly written that the apparent exchange between Bragg and Vaprezan are covered.

People who do not respect the function of religion will not understand why confessions are held as confidential.  They might benefit from comparing this to what they say to their physician or their psychiatrist.

  • “MCL 600.2156: No minister of the gospel, or priest of any denomination whatsoever, or duly accredited Christian Science practitioner, shall be allowed to disclose any confessions made to him in his professional character, in the course of discipline enjoined by the rules or practice of such denomination.”
  • “MCL 767.5a(2): Any communications between attorneys and their clients, between members of the clergy and the members of their respective churches, and between physicians and their patients are hereby declared to be privileged and confidential when those communications were necessary to enable the attorneys, members of the clergy, or physicians to serve as such attorney, member of the clergy, or physician.”

Colorado GOP says Santorum won

Colorado Republican Party.

It’s so pretty, early this Weds AM. The map of Colorado has turned all red, meaning that all the precincts have reported. And the numbers on the side say Santorum, 40.24% and Romney 34.9 % and Gingrich 12.81%.

Expect the Missouri results, the Minnesota results and the Colorado results to be counted as insignificant by the media which needs Romney to go up against Obama and lose.

Does Planned Parenthood provide Mammograms?

NOPE!

courtesy of Live Action Films.

Senior Vice President for Policy, Karen Handel has resigned from the Komen Foundation. She has been credited with initiating the Komen decision to stop funding Planned Parenthood. Handel says she supported the decision but that the idea was initiated before she was hired into her position, in April 2011.

Jill Stanek notes that Karen Handel has declined a severance package from Komen. What this means is that her departure is probably about as good for Komen as the departure of Abby Johnson was for planned unparenthood. Know what I mean?? 😉

Head over to Jill’s place to see what happened when ATT disconnected planned unparenthood.
