After a botched abortion which lead to the death of a woman,  and the killing of 7 infants born alive after late term abortion attempts,  Kermit Gosnell is finally under arrest.  Also charged are Gosnell’s wife, and eight other suspects.

“Blog for choice” day  is fast approaching and thing’s aren’t looking so good for this yearly  celebration of death.

Update  – Read the report of  the Grand Jury overseeing this case.  Warning, it contains some late term abortion photos but they are not the primary portion of the document.

The Thought of Losing all that Federal Money Caused Vanderbilt to Drop It’s Abortion Policy for Nursing Residents.

Voila! Vanderbilt drops abortion demand.

Yes…. 300 million bucks in Federal money — could have been held back from Vanderbilt had it continued using its application form, which was worded in such a way to prevent pro-life nurses from applying to its women’s health care track.

That, and the publicity provided by the Alliance Defense fund and allied pro-lifers was a bit much for the school.  This news was all over the place

Vanderbilt’s application letter has been modified so that it no longer contains the demand of nurses to provide care for women who are undergoing  abortions.

Vanderbilt has been trying to save face by claiming that the letter didn’t really mean to coerce participation  in the abortions themselves.    (Experienced health care professionals know that it would have.)

Nursing residents should expect a hostile work environment from those who run the woman’s health care track inside of Vanderbilt, since they are the origin of that application form.  They will not like having had to modify it,  likely at the behest of those higher up, who could not stand this publicity, nor the thought of losing the federal grants.

Any overtly pro-life health care professional will experience some form of negative backlash in  the majority of health care institutions.

People who know they should have stood up for the sanctity of human life  often  resent those who actually do.  You’ll find some of these people in surprising places.

It doesn’t matter that Vanderbilt’s woman’s health division of the nursing school has rescinded its demand.   Pro-life nurses who enter there might want to keep a lawyer on their speed dial.

High Court Says No Right to Abortion in European Law » Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute.

Europe’s uppermost court of human rights,  finds no human right to abortion in it’s latest decision, regarding three plaintiffs from Ireland.

A mixed decision says that one woman’s right to privacy was violated with respect to lack of information  regarding her options for cancer treatment.   She traveled to Britain  for an abortion,  because she did not know her available options for dealing with her ‘remittent cancer’.

The Human Rights Court resisted pressure to undermine  all of the European sovereign  states’  abortion prohibitions , as had been done in the United States.

Pharmer notes that our leftists have been wanting the U.S. Judiciary to include international legal decisions as consideration in their findings,  but believes that they will make an exception in this case.

Obama Admin Working to Rescind Conscience Rights on Abortion | LifeNews.com.

Obama began work to rescind Bush’s executive order and HHS regulations to protect the conscience rights of health care workers who refuse to kill their patients at the very beginning of life, immediately upon taking office.   He was so busy with his unconstitutional, health care debacle that this project has been in limbo.

Not to worry.  A physician shortage is integral to the rationing of care, and this can be exacerbated by denying conscience rights to those health care providers who refuse to kill in the practice of medicine.  Obama intends to  complete this project, having Health and Human Services rules promulgated  in early 2011.  Look for it.

Abortion Crackdown in Bangkok

Bangkok Post : Pills seized in abortion raid.

The Public Health Ministry of Thailand has seized large stores of illicit pharmaceuticals as part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal abortion clinics.  Earlier in November, 2002 aborted babies were found stored at a Buddhist temple in Bangkok.

Legal abortion in Thailand is  limited mainly  to cases of rape or incest, fetal abnormality, or ‘danger to the mother’s life’.

The health ministry’s action against illegal abortion clinics uncovered large stocks of MTpill (mifepristone) cytolog (misopristil),  antibiotics and drugs for impotence, at one of four illicit drug producers said to be located in Bangkok.

Timothy M. Dolan Elected Head of US Conference of Catholic Bishops

Timothy M. Dolan to Lead Catholic Bishops’ Conference – NYTimes.com.

From the leftist position of the New York Times, choosing Archbishop Dolan as president of the USCCB is a conservative move.

However,  Archbishop Dolan does not appear to be an  actual conservative.

A conservative would recognize that Obamacare would destroy the goose that laid the golden egg,  and that has heavily funded the charitable outreach of the Catholic church.

No mention is made of the obvious fact that Obamacare  will make  our elderly and disabled citizens SHOVEL READY.

Medicare denies more claims for treatment than any private insurer.    The idea that Obamacare will expand coverage while taking on more patients, wasting more money in administration, and driving out health care providers, is a total joke.

Archbishop Dolan is quoted by NYT:

“We should have been doing cartwheels” when the health care bill passed, he said, because the bishops had long supported expanding coverage. But he said the bishops could not endorse the legislation because they concluded there were “unborn babies that were in danger.”

If  that quote is accurate,  it would mean that he’s Lost in the Weeds on this issue.
