Yes, it’s just fine to say MERRY CHRISTMAS! in Japan, so you shouldn’t have to worry about saying it in the U.S..

Christmas is sort of a special day for lovers in Japan, but is also celebrated in the homes. KFC has made itself a big niche for Christmas dinner, believe it or not.

The Obamas balked at displaying a nativity scene in the White house this year, but they are perfectly acceptable  in Japan.   It’s not necessary for them to be Christian to have curiosity and respect for the story of the birth of Jesus.   Below is one from Kokeshi designs.

While we’re wandering to Japan, to find religious tolerance of Christianity! here’s another look at Japan’s pro-life  Jikei hospital in Kumamoto prefecture.  They’ve got a crisis pregnancy hotline, and the stork baby hatch.

Taiji Hasuda, president of the Jikei hospital’s parent company,  brought forth the idea of this baby hatch, dubbed konotori no yurikago.  It is modeled after similar ones in Germany, as a means to reduce abortions, and prevent abandonment of babies in unsafe conditions.

Are any Japanese speakers finding the  cool homonym in Hasuda-san’s first name?

Aberdeen, Washington Practitioner Aborted His Own Child

Aberdeen doctor keeps job after improper abortion.

Dr. John Eiland, an ob-gyn at Grays Harbor Woman’s Clinic, will be fined $3000 dollars, be required to attend “ethics training”, and be on “probation” for three years per the Washington State Health Department.

Investigators say that he had sex with a co-worker in 2006, while he worked at Providence Centralia Hospital.   He got her pregnant and performed an abortion on her himself.  There are no available medical records for the “treatment”.  The doc, who has admitted to the misconduct, will not lose his medical license.

What a guy!

Trash Science News Headline Misleads News Skimmers

Doctors Claim HIV-Positive Man Cured by Stem Cell Transplant – FoxNews.com.

1) This is the case of an HIV infected person with leukemia getting a BONE MARROW transplant, (actually two of them).

2) The headline says “stem cells”, without specifying that this is old technology using adult bone marrow cells from a compatible donor.

3) The donor cells in this case lacked  expression of the receptor on CD4  T  cells  to which the HIV virus attaches.

4) The recipient does not have the AIDs  symptoms of HIV anymore, and will not have to take antiretroviral drugs.  He will have to take immunosuppressive drugs after the transplant to prevent  or treat graft vs host disease.   The length of need for these drugs varies.

5) The virus can still potentially be transmitted by a patient to another person  after that form of treatment.

More  detail on this case.

Chase orders Southlake bank to remove Christmas tree | Northeast Tarrant | News from For….

An order from headquarters forced a local bank to remove a  DONATED Christmas tree, because some people were offended.  Perhaps this corporation is adhering to new rules associated with the bank bailout which they accepted. (Yes this is a taxpayer supported business.)

Do you think a boycott by those offended by the impoliteness and hostility of JP Morgan Chase would help???  After all, a business which needs bailout money  is probably already unhealthy and maybe natural selection needs to run its course.

Meanwhile, McDermott and the Dems are invoking the spirit of Christmas in order to trash Republicans for not extending the unemployment benefits. Current law states that new expenditures are to paid for, but the Dems were not willing to use the unspent TARP slush funds to fund their new spending proposal, as the Republicans proposed.

The Downside of Seeking A Board Certified Obstetrician to Deliver Your Baby

ACOG Again Denies Conscience Rights of Doctors on Abortion | LifeNews.com.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists have repeated their 2007 opinion that refusing to participate in abortion is unethical, and it could cause one’s board certification to be revoked.

So  maybe ABOG’s certification isn’t the kind that physicians ought to be seeking since that organization relies on ACOG to determine what is ethical behavior.  (See Section III, part F of the 2011 Bulletin for basic certification in obstetrics and gynecology.)

Yes it’s true,  a physician  could lose board certification for refusing to perform or participate in abortion, and this fact is not lost on the American Association of Pro-life Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

YouTube – SO IT STARTS – Senate Bill 510 – Organic Farmer Fined 5000 For Growing Crops On Own Land.

Though Steve Miller, of Clarkston Georgia sought and gained rezoning for his organic produce farm,  Dekalb county officials are still going after him for growing too many vegetables.  They are prosecuting him and intend to fine him $5000 for the now defunct zoning problem.

See how easy it is to contact the Dekalb County Board of Commissioners?  All their emails are right HERE!

So….. this man’s problem- which is currently just with his own county- ought to be made into a  national issue, because it doesn’t stop in Georgia.  The Feds wish to do similar things  to all of us  too.

Bugs R Us – Alaska Report

Gonorrhea outbreak puts Alaska in uphill battle with STD | McClatchy.

Gonorrhea cases are  up 69 % from 2008 to 2009 according to data reported to the CDC.   Some attribute it to increased reporting.

Chlamydia often accompanies gonorrhea and frequently the choice is made to  treat both ‘bugs’ if one is diagnosed.

More  information comes from comments appended to the McClatchy artircle linked at the top.

“Redpoll”,  reported  at 13:50 11/26,  from his Alaskan village about the population most affected by the STD outbreak:

“The destruction of Native culture by the government is startling to witness, and part of that destruction is the replacement of family by state programs. Every girl in the high school is placed on long-term contraception. Out-of-wedlock births hover around 80 percent. As a fourth-grader once told me about learning math: “Why should I learn this s***? White people are going to give me a house when I grow up.” (The smartest kid in the class, BTW.) Layer on that alcohol and drug use that is at unbelievable levels. Lording over everything is the attitude by outsiders with college degrees who seem to think that they have to “fix” these people, and almost always make the situation worse.”

“In that destruction and chaos, sexual promiscuity is rampant, and that, of course, leads to epidemics of STDs. Maybe if Native people were left alone to cultivate their own ways of living, knowledge, and culture, this would change.

And that’s the rest of the story.
