Bishop revokes Phoenix hospital’s ‘Catholic’ status

Bishop revokes Phoenix hospital’s ‘Catholic’ status.

He actually did it.    Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted stripped St. Joseph’s Medical Center, in Phoenix  of its Catholic affiliation.  This came after a scandal in 2009, concerning a widely publicized abortion which took place there.   That issue had already been  addressed, but  St. Joseph’s affiliation with the Mercy Care Plan , which provides care through the Arizona  state medicaid program,  required it to offer contraceptive counseling and other services antithetical to Catholic teachings.   This contractual arrangement is said to be the tipping point to cause the dissolution of the Catholic affiliation

Mass may no longer be said at the hospital, and the Blessed Sacrament is to be removed from the Chapel.

Watch the changes which occur at St. Joseph’s   in the aftermath of this “divorce” from Church affiliation.    Will the hospital attempt to re-affiliate, or will it rely upon a closer relationship with the government for survival.  Certainly the loss of Catholic affiliation will affect private donations to the Medical Center.

Why The Catholic Bishops Don’t Get Donations From Pharmer

Pharmer continues the boycott of the US Catholic Bishops fundraisers, and here’s just one more reason.

This appeared in Pharmer’s Church bulletin during October, Pro-life month:

“The Indiana Bishops have asked that parishes and affiliated/associated organizations NOT distribute or allow distribution of Indiana Right To Life’s or county affiliate organization’s election materials.
The Indiana Right to Life has adopted a clearly partisan policy that effectively endorses ONLY Republican candidates for elected offices.
When the Indiana Right to Life Policy and materials are again non-partisan, with a focus on education and advocacy, parishes may be able to cooperate with the local and state organization during the election campaign once more.”

The use of the word “republican” in this announcement violates it’s own supposed non-partisan message. Thus it is internally inconsistent with the supposed spirit the Indiana Bishops are pretending to convey.

The reality is that the bulk of U.S. Bishops (outside of a persistently pro life minority) are paying lip service to pro-life ideals only due to the prodding of the pro-life Pope Benedict.

The Wallbuilders have established three years running that the churches need not fear the IRS removal of tax exempt status. Those preachers doing political advocacy from the pulpits, and sending the tapes to the IRS have yet to be taken to task. The IRS knows that it will lose this case in court, so it keeps silent, allowing the IRS intimidation of most pastors to proceed.

The Catholic Church in the United States ought not to specifically ally itself with any party, but it really needs to get out of bed with the pro-abortion, pro-infanticide, pro-euthanasia, pro-gay marriage, Pro-WAR, pro-slavery, anti-civil rights, Democrat party of the KKK. Those of us who know the history of the U.S. Wars and the above mentioned misbehaviors know which party has initiated and/or supported them in our government.

Any politically conscious person knows that the Republican party is not without stain, and this is why there is a TEA-party for one example. Pharmer has been boycotting the RNC appeals for many years, and assisting individual candidates in other ways.

Pro-life politicians need to find another party, because the Democrat party at the national level has been impervious to transformation on these issues, and defunds its pro-life candidates at the national level. Democrats have moved further left with their chosen president’s inclusion of actual infanticide as an extension of abortion.

Notes:

The Indiana Right to Life Voter Guide has no endorsements included on the document. It has survey questions for federal and state candidates, followed by lists of the candidates (without party affiliation) and their replies to the questions.

Indiana Right to Life has issued a statement that it will back no Democrats this year, due in part  to the cooperation of Indiana Democrats with the pro abortion Obamacare.  The Democrat state officials have not allowed pro-life legislation to proceed in the Indiana legislature as well.  The Indiana Bishops are reminded of Independents, Teapartiers, and Libertarians which are active within the state, and which are not excluded from consideration.  It is revealed that the “only republicans” statement appearing in the church bulletin really means “no democrats”.

The Democrat Party Platform of 2008 on Abortion:
“The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v Wade and a woman’s right to choose a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay, and we oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that right.”

“The Democratic Party also strongly supports access to comprehensive affordable family planning services and age-appropriate sex education which empower people to make informed choices and live healthy lives. We also recognize that such health care and education help reduce the number of unintended pregnancies and thereby also reduce the need for abortions.”

“The Democratic Party also strongly supports a woman’s decision to have a child by ensuring access to and availability of programs for pre and post natal health care, parenting skills, income support, and caring adoption programs.”

Our Uninspired U.S. Catholic Bishops

If you ever donated or volunteered at one of the Catholic or other religious affiliated hospitals,  or worked there at lower salary than you might command elsewhere, for the sake of assisting a non profit institution that serves the poor……..  The US Conference of Catholic Bishops doesn’t  think you exist.  You and your service and your generosity are  NOTHING to them, and they collectively appear to  feel that the corrupt, liberal run government, can allocate care so much better.

It’s all right here,  in one of their too little, too late letters which Obama and his lefties are likely  throwing into the dumpster, after using it for personal hygiene,  (recycling being  of paramount importance).

This particular letter states that the issue of providing health care for all  has gone unaddressed in this country.  Unaddressed by all of you who put your time and money toward the effort, or to those who dedicated your careers to this end.  Your efforts go unrecognized as insignificant.   You see,  to our USCCB,  things will only be right when everyone has the same miserably poor care, under government mismanagement, as exists in other socialized countries.   This letter addresses the abortion issue, but utterly ignores the looming death-panel issue of government controlled rationing.    In their left-bent dementia, the bishops  opine that only  the government can manage such an undertaking as health care for all, and until pressure from the Vatican,  and Catholics cutting their funding to the USCCB  set this organization to its impotent letter writing effort,  they were content to support  a complete  economic  takeover by the socialists.

The bishops’  last  half hearted effort to forestall the abortion problem in Obamacare was distributed to parishes, but there was apparently  no mandatory directive for the priests to promote it.   Many churchgoers remain unaware of the effort.

The USCCB has been teaching,  contrary to the Catholic Church, and its authority, that we should allocate our personal, charitable responsibilities to the state.  Allegiance to these misguided bishops  is  a grievous error which will become more apparent as the state proceeds to strip the rest of our freedoms away.

Now is the time to let the U.S. Bishops understand that their leftist, socialist teachings regarding health care and control by the state  are not welcome in our lives.   Reallocate your charitable contributions away from USCCB  interests and  towards the numerous  direct charities, which feed the hungry and provide medical assistance without abortions.  Ask your Pastors and parish leaders to act similarly.    Money talks.   All of us Catholics can increase our efforts  to adhere to Church Teaching.   A transformation of the U.S. Catholic Church is needed.

This can be accomplished  from the grassroots, as  it will be done with respect to  the U.S. government.

Could the Bishops’ Statement Influence Sr. Carol Keehan?

Pharmer could make no such positive assumption.

Hot Air » Blog Archive » Catholic bishops send message to faithful: We oppose ObamaCare.

However the Bishops appear to clarify a position against Obamacare, due to the unsavory, death dealing inclusions.

This  too little, too late missive, is in response to Pelosi’s claims that the Bishops supported the wretched health care plan.

Pharmer is not expecting the current pastor to read this statement at Mass, but would convey the pleasant surprise if it happens.

Devout Catholics shouldn’t work in Emergency Room says Coakley

This goes into the PHARMER TOLD YA SO FILE…. since conscience rights for health professionals has been my business for years and years.

The leftists do not have room for health care professionals who regard all human life with respect and who would not kill in their practice. In the event of Obamacare, most of us will be compelled to change careers, which will leave patients to deal with the other kind of health care provider.

Martha Coakley weighs in on the topic here.
