Sneak Attack Tax on Savings to Bail out Cyprus Banks

Alert denizens of the Eurozone might take action after learning what’s in store for ordinary savers in Cyprus, after this weekend.  A tax, ranging from 6.5% to 9.9% will be levied on all deposits.   The money is intended to bail out the banks, as well as the government.

Cyprus, up until this time attracted a good deal of international banking business.   Things might change after depositors from elsewhere discover that they will be ‘receiving’  significant NEGATIVE interest on their savings.

The prospect of negative interest, and the example of Cyprus might increase the popularity of stuffing money into mattresses, throughout Europe.

UPDATE 3/19:    Amid the threat of a bank run, (which caused banks to be closed until Thursday),  legislators in Cyprus rejected the plan to tax bank savings up to 10 percent.   This leaves the nation to search for a more palatable way out of their financial woes.

Did You Know- Europeans Want Guns?

M. E. Synon of Euroseptic reminds us that Europeans want guns too.   According to police and other research, most of the privately held guns in Germany, and  Belgium, are “off the books”.  In other words, they are illegally owned.  The number of legally owned guns in the Czech Republic expanded rapidly in the years after the collapse of communism.

‘Free People want guns’, says Ms. Synon, ‘because guns help keep them free.’

Soylent Brown- Double Horsemeat Fraud

Horsemeat found in British supermarkets ‘may be donkey’ – Home News – UK – The Independent.

It seems that a change in Romanian regulations has banned horses drawn carriages from the roads.   This has resulted in wholesale slaughter of horses, and is said to have precipitated fraudulent horse meat distribution throughout Europe.

Now it appears that there may be an added problem.  Some of the horse meat might actually be DONKEY!!   Is it actual donkeys, or have leftists taken their convictions about recycling to the max??  🙂

The Food Standards Agency of Europe is rejecting the idea of a ban on all meat imports.  Their claim is that all the products on sale are safe for human consumption.

Pharmer begs to differ.

Think They’ll Start Washing Their Hands After Going To the Bathroom?

Germany steps up hunt for deadly E.coli source – Yahoo! News.

Where do you find Escherichia coli?   This is the bacterium most associated with feces.

A particularly virulent strain, (Shiga toxin producer) which is associated with severe food poisoning and sometimes death,  is  causing quite a panic in Europe.

Pharmer hopes that the spread of this organism, (which is transmitted  in the manner of many other organisms associated with food poisoning)  will inspire people to wash their hands after going to the bathroom, and before food handling and preparation.

It might even inspire those in Europe and elsewhere   to attend to the hygiene in their hospitals.  This would benefit ALL the patients.

We have previously seen  governmental wild goose chases looking for the source of  pathogenic organisms where vegetables and food products are grown.  Remember the salsa scare? It would be advisable for people to spend their effort attending to  proper food preparation and personal hygiene.  Hopefully they can still afford the soap and water after the governments have  burned their resources in  futile  attempts to track the organisms, and destroyed massive quantities of good food in the process.
