North Koreans are able to get news to the outside via Rimjin Gang, which is compiled by Asia Press.   What’s up now is a series of stories about the starvation.  Now is the time that food stores from the fall  are running out, (bori-kage) and people are the most malnourished.  It’s the worst time of year until May, when early crops are harvested.

There’s a  spate of stories about cannibalism in North Korea.  Reportedly, some people are cooking and eating their own children.  Devolution is a bit further along in that starving country, than here in the U.S. where food is plentiful, but people have other uses for the tissue of their offspring.

Kim Jong-Il dies, North Korea rallies around son – Yahoo! News.

Pharmer has linked up the Yahoo article which at notes that Kim Jong IL presided over a huge famine in North Korea which has stunted the growth of perhaps a third of the children through malnutrition.  At the same time he built up a nuclear arsenal. First things first.

(The AP coverage is nauseatingly filled with the party propaganda regarding “Dear Leader”, and so was deemed unworthy for linkage.)

The North Korean despot  is said to have died of a heart attack from overwork.  Pharmer thinks it might have been the eating habits, the diabetes, and the coronary artery disease, perhaps complicated by the ingestion of  too many estrogen analogs.

Twenty seven year old Kim Jong Un will succeed his father.  Korea marked the day of this event, coincidentally with the launch of a test missile.    Other Asian nations  have  responded to this unknown governmental factor with stock markets dropping.

North Korea Leadership Meeting: King Jong-il’s Son Kim Jong-un Expected To Be Named As Official | World News | Sky News.

Kim Jong-il is grooming his youngest son, Jong-un to be the next leader of North Korea.  Since his stroke in 2008, Jong-il’s health has been poor, and he has accelerated the plans for transition, with his son likely to be officially appointed to leadership at the next Worker’s party conference in Pyongyang.

Intelligence Quarterly states that there’s no evidence to substantiate the rumor.

There IS evidence to substantiate the rumor that our environmentalists and whacked out government think that the Russians, Chinese, Mexico, Brazil,  and everyone else  will impact the environment less when They drill for oil, and we should just let them have it all.
