Houston shuts down a private charitable operation by imposing onerous restrictions – on people giving away food to the hungry.
The premise might be that it’s better for the homeless to go hungry or starve, than risk eating unregulated food.

The Thought of Losing all that Federal Money Caused Vanderbilt to Drop It’s Abortion Policy for Nursing Residents.
Voila! Vanderbilt drops abortion demand.
Yes…. 300 million bucks in Federal money — could have been held back from Vanderbilt had it continued using its application form, which was worded in such a way to prevent pro-life nurses from applying to its women’s health care track.
That, and the publicity provided by the Alliance Defense fund and allied pro-lifers was a bit much for the school. This news was all over the place
Vanderbilt’s application letter has been modified so that it no longer contains the demand of nurses to provide care for women who are undergoing abortions.
Vanderbilt has been trying to save face by claiming that the letter didn’t really mean to coerce participation in the abortions themselves. (Experienced health care professionals know that it would have.)
Nursing residents should expect a hostile work environment from those who run the woman’s health care track inside of Vanderbilt, since they are the origin of that application form. They will not like having had to modify it, likely at the behest of those higher up, who could not stand this publicity, nor the thought of losing the federal grants.
Any overtly pro-life health care professional will experience some form of negative backlash in the majority of health care institutions.
People who know they should have stood up for the sanctity of human life often resent those who actually do. You’ll find some of these people in surprising places.
It doesn’t matter that Vanderbilt’s woman’s health division of the nursing school has rescinded its demand. Pro-life nurses who enter there might want to keep a lawyer on their speed dial.

Erad 3 posted from the summer of 2010 on a forum called Above Top Secret. He posts in the same style (often tortured attempt at syllogism) as in the videos of Jared Loughner, and is most likely one and the same.
The other members of this forum apparently recognized that Erad3 had more than one screw loose, but were rather gentle (compared to many other internet forums) in suggesting this.

The above linked information is from a Zach Ostler, who is said to be Loughner’s last best friend, who broke away from his company about 2 years before.
Other sources said Loughner was registered as an independent, and did not vote in the 2010 election.
Vanderbilt Doubletalk On Their Nursing Residency Requirements
“I am aware that I may be providing nursing care for women who are having” procedures including terminations of pregnancy.
“It is important that you are aware of this aspect of care and give careful consideration to your ability to provide compassionate care to women in these situations,” the acknowledgment states. “If you feel you cannot provide care to women during this type of event, we encourage you to apply to a different track of the Nurse Residency Program to explore opportunities that may best fit your skills and career goals.”
Naturally this would be offputting to any pro-life applicants, who would probably decide to choose another residency program. This might be the actual intention.
John Howser, the medical center spokesman claimed that it does not mean to suggest that residents with religious or moral objections will be required to participate in the actual procedures. He , in classic double talk noted that nursing students are not required to sign a similar letter of acknowledgment.
What is the difference? Why require something of the residents which is not required of the nursing students in that track?
Care for patients who are having abortions would naturally be expected to include assisting with the procedure, unless specifically stated (in writing) otherwise. The verbal assurances of Howser, the media frontman, cannot be construed to assure nurses who object to abortion that their conscientous objection will be respected, and that they will not be penalized for it.
David French, senior counsel with the Alliance Defense Fund is addressing this issue currently, seeking rewording of the application materials for Vanderbilt’s nursing residency program. The basis for immediate legal repercussions are the existing federal restrictions on institutions WHICH ACCEPT FEDERAL GRANT MONEY.
In the era of Obama, one cannot necessarily expect enforcement of said restrictions. A free market solution is for the (more competent) pro-life nurses and prospective nursing students to avoid application to Vanderbilt. There are many more educational opportunities available.

Firefighters found her car was found at their home, just before dawn engulfed in flames.
The White house declined to comment on the incident.
Apple Rejects Manhatten Declaration App. A Financial Issue
Apple has a need to address the encroaching competition from the Droid series of smart phones, hence the projected Feb 23 launch of iPhones with Verizon.
Recently the gay-sex community has pressured Apple into rejecting the Manhattan Declaration app, which it had originally accepted as containing no objectionable content.
Many gays find the Biblical restrictions on sexual activity to be offensive, and Apple has complied with their demands. The Manhattan app has been resubmitted with 47,000 signatories petitioning for its distribution, and rejected a second time.
The Android operating system and Droid Line of phones work just fine, and supports many thousands of great apps. The most significant app producers are using both platforms for their wares. Android’s platform is open source, and more accessible to programmers.
Pharmer operates the original Droid, and more than one Ipod touch, and is fairly familiar with both markets.
If you subscribe to the Christian teachings on the issues of the sanctity of human life and its generation, you might wish to let Apple know that you’ll stick with your Droid, unless they cease their specific suppression of Christian teaching on these issues, while continuing to host opposing viewpoints.
