Obama Jobs Bill Might Not Help Touted Bridge – Investors.com.

Obama is grandstanding on the Brent Spence bridge, not very far from  Pharmer’s rural dwelling.  In fact, that’s the bridge Pharmer used to cross  on the way to her undergraduate educational institution.  The Brent Spence is in reasonable shape,  does not need reconstruction, but does need another bridge next to it, because it’s a traffic bottleneck over the Ohio River.   Obama’s  second try at selling the “shovel” ready jobs is meant to supply immediate gratification.  This won’t be applicable to the Cincinnati area, where Obama is appearing.

So, it’s all symbolism and no substance.  Cincinnati will not be seeing bridgework from this funding package of Obama.   It’s more likely that the EPA will forbid building of further bridges between Cincinnat and Northern Kentucky, out of intense concern for the catfish (big as sharks), sauger and longnose gar of the Ohio river. 😉

Pharmer was also amused to see mention, in the LA Times, that Reid had no time for Obama’s jobs bill, and that it would not get attention until later in the fall at the earliest.   Read fast, this article is going to disappear:

“But there is some possible good news for President Obama: The $447-billion jobs bill that he wanted passed “right now” back in early September is stuck in a legislative traffic jam in the Senate.”

News flash…… it’s a tax and spend bill that has to start out in the Congress, according to the Constitution,  and Obama’s “bill” has NOT BEEN INTRODUCED THERE yet.

The Obama administration is a heavy email spam source, as his media  noted after the latest Jobs speech last Thursday.   If you don’t want that in your main email box, get a nice, free web address with whatever name you want to attach to it.  For fun, you could  try Davie Axelwod, or Ram Emmanuel, to lampoon some old friends you once knew.

Then… very politely, send links showing stories and video of Union misbehavior,  trashing of the landscape after leftie gatherings,  uncivil behavior from the left wingers, TSA gropings, etc.

Let them see themselves as others see them.

Obama’s Army, AFL-CIO Division, Takes Hostages in Longview, Washington

Longshoremen storm Wash. state port, damage RR – Yahoo! News.

An estimated 500 longshoremen took six security guards hostage, dumped grain cargo, and cut brake lines of railroad cars at the Port of Longview on Thursday morning.

These workers belong to the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, part of the AFL-CIO, who’s boss, Richard Trumka was invited to attend Obama’s speech on Thursday night.

Some of the protesters are saying that this is only the start of their violent tactics. This action of Thursday morning is in defiance of a federal restraining order against union after previous accusations of assaults and death threats.

Of course the vandalism and taking of hostages is illegal in its own right, but no state or federal reprisals against Obama’s Union Army is expected.

We are expecting Obama’s Army to be present at election polling places in 2012, intimidating voters, also with no intervention from the government.

Do not forget that the AFL-CIO leader sat with the first lady and corporate crony Jeffrey Immelt during the Obama speech on Thursday night after the violent hostage taking and illegal actions of his longshoremen in Washington.

Obama moves jobs speech date to Sept. 8 | The Ticket – Yahoo! News.

Obama’s original plan ( to suggest a third Porkulus package)  to “stimulate jobs”   has been rescheduled.

It’s “deja vu all over again”  as the president comes off of a Martha’s Vineyard vacation and makes a speech about jobs.   The idea was to address  a joint session of congress on Sept 7,  in an attempt to upstage a republican presidential debate.

Boehner rejected the idea, and asked for rescheduling to Sept 8.

Obama has complied, and will now be up against the opening game of the professional football season.

Kill Devil Hills: Aftermath of Irene

Pharmer sent a link to the Kill Devil Hills weather data, which was posted  here yesterday, to the Drudge Report. Coincidentally, the Drudge crew elected to link up an Irene aftermath story from…. yes, Kill Devil Hills, saying that less than expected damage had occurred.  Tropical storms  are known to be VERY WET.  Consistent with that fact, the  main damage from Irene  is from too much rain.

The media, with red faces, are still trying to tell us that Irene was a hurricane when it made landfall,  but as we can see from the rest of the wind graph at Kill Devil Hills……. it really was a Tropical Storm.  Even the wind GUSTS did not register at 50 mph, and sustained winds were well below that.

 

Obama might be kicking himself for ending the vacation early in order to “take command” of the disaster from the non-hurricane. Perhaps he can breathe a ginormous gust of hot air to dry the wetness left by Irene on the portion of the country to which he feels more attachment. (Those of us in flyover country have experienced his conspicuous detachment from our disasters.)
