Alternatives to Komen for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is also the month for awareness that Susan G Komen Foundation gives grants to Planned Parenthood, an organization which has no mammography equipment, but purports to do breast cancer screenings.

Here are some alternatives to the Susan Komen Foundation, if you feel moved to donate money for breast cancer research, but would like to avoid funding the nations largest abortion provider.

Homily for October 2, 2011: 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time | The Deacon’s Bench

Homily for October 2, 2011: 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time | The Deacon’s Bench.

The pharmer’s Uncle found the Oct 2 homily from Deacon Greg Kandra,  and forwarded it.  It’s good input for pro-life month.

Deacon Greg Kandra tells us to thank Steve Jobs’ MAMA ,  who chose life for her unplanned kid and put him up for adoption.   She’s responsible for allowing us to have all those goodies from the Apple Corporation.

That sermon  provided impetus for another pounding on Pharmer’s favorite nail:

It highlighted one  reason, among many, to avoid usurping the life and death business from the ‘CEO of the universes’.

This pharmer is obsessed with another reason: that the advancement of humanity is fueled by the need to address human suffering and need.

The short sighted get the idea that human suffering should be addressed by removing those who suffer or have special health needs.

Besides the immediate wrong of killing them, comes the Devolution of civilization.  Our impetus to create and invent to address human suffering and need is squashed, because those people are gone.

Some people have an indirect life mission to increase the humanity of everyone.  They are as valuable as Steve Jobs.

While you’re wandering Deacon Kandra’s blog, he has another cool sermon for this weekend, Oct 9.

Another One Bites the Dust

State Shuts Down Rockford Abortion Clinic; Cites Numerous Violations – MyStateLine.com.

The license of the Northern Illinois Woman’s Center has been suspended indefinitely, due to unsanitary conditions and other violations noted by the Illinois State Department of Health.

This clinic has been noted, over the years, at Jill Stanek’s  site,  for it’s special personal relationship with the pro-life community.

With this particular clinic bust,  an abortion avenue has been closed  for Wisconsinites seeking to dodge the parental notification laws in that state.

New bill could prevent pharmacists from denying contraception prescriptions to customers – NorthJersey.com

Two legislators, Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., and Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y are pushing a bill to deny pharmacists the right of conscience with respect to dispensing hormonal birth control.

Scroll one article down to see what Pharmer had to say about Sebelius pretending that the rights of conscientious objectors would be respected in the Obama birth control plan.

Jewels Green : Another Pro-life Convert Out of the Closet

Exclusive: Former Abortion Clinic Worker Speaks Out For Life.

Jewels Green had a long history with the abortion industry, beginning with a coerced abortion in her teen years,  then years of employment in the abortion industry.

She   has long since left that work, having come to the conclusion that she could never get used to ending human life in that way.   Only after seeing the book by Abby Johnson (on the side bar ad)   and her testimony has Ms Green  been able to publicly make a statement about her own change of heart.

After reading it,  people will probably conclude that  Jewels Green was instinctively pro-life all along.

Chemical Abortion

Pro-lifers recognize surgical abortion as killing humans, but not all of them recognize the scope of the problem presenting as chemical abortion. Generally we  recognize  mifepristone, the chemical formerly known as RU-486. The initial name of the drug  stayed with us, (the same as with the Artist formerly known as Prince).  Mifepristone is best known in the U.S. for its function to kill unborn humans during the embryonic stage, up to 49 days of pregnancy, although it has other investigational uses.

Meet the TWINS!  Ulipristal acetate and Mifepristone.  As you can see, they’re not quite identical, but very close. Both are selective progesterone receptor modulators.

Mifepristone, RU-486 is the most regulated drug in the U.S. Pharmacists don’t dispense it. It’s supposed to be dispensed only by physicians, directly to patients. In China and other countries it has been used as a morning after pill, as well as a killer of later embryos and early fetuses.

Those astute drug companies knew that this drug would not sell as a morning after pill in the U.S. That’s why we have it’s TWIN, Ulipristal Acetate, approved  by the FDA  in August , 2010,  and brought to us in by Watson Pharmaceuticals in December of the same year.  Watson also distributes Next Choice, generic of the original form of Plan B.

At 0.5mg/kg, Ulipristal Acetate, marketed as ELLA, is usable as a morning after pill. It’s marketed as an inhibitor of ovulation, but the manufacturer admits that the operative mechanism depends on the timing of its use. Like RU-486, Ulipristone is an anti-progesterone. It stops the action of that hormone in the reproductive tract, inhibits proliferation of the endometrium, inhibits implantation, and kills the embryo.

Palatine Illinois Jaycees threw the local Catholic Respect Life group out of their Fourth of July Parade.  The excuse for this obamanation is Jaycee’s apparent disapproval of a fetal image used on one of the posters.   It was not an aborted fetus,  but an ultrasound photo of a live one, to demonstrate intrauterine development of the unborn.

No Federal Funding For Abortion Providers- Not a Big Deal, Mitt Romney

Mitt Romney is not really wanting to cut funding for abortions so strongly that he’d actually promise to work on it.   He pretends that it would be a big deal and cause defunding of all the hospitals that offer abortion services.

Hospitals can create a mini corporation and sector it off to do all the objectionable stuff using private funds.

This is really easy.     A building does not have to contain only one corporation.  It’s very easy to rent out a section to another corporation which does the unfundable activity while the rest of the institution qualifies for federal funds.
This can be done for a hundred thousand bucks  or less in some cases.   If the law gets picky, they can park a single wide outside and get er done.

Hospitals at this time are turning themselves inside out, spending millions upgrading technology to remain qualified for medicare and medicaid funds.
Segregating the abortions sufficiently to remain qualified for federal funds  is no big deal for most institutions, other than than having some of their benefactors find out what is being done there.

Mitt can stop pretending that he’s pro-life enough to honor our desire not to pay for the killings.

Blagojevich Rule Challenged | Daily News | NCRegister.com.

In Sangamon County, Circuit Court Judge John Belz ruled that Illinois pharmacists can’t be forced to dispense the morning after pills against their own ethical standards and religious beliefs.

Opponents promise to immediately challenge this ruling, but Atty. Francis J. Manion,  ACLJ senior counsel, who represented the conscientiously objecting pharmacists notes that the court ruling addresses specific arguments for which the Illinois state attorneys were not able to provide evidence.   For example,  they were not able to argue that a single woman had been prevented from obtaining her morning after pills by a pharmacist who would not personally provide them.  For that reason, an appeal on their part will likely be a waste of Illinois’  negative financial resources.

The Illinois edict, which was overturned in the circuit court, had basically been designed  by Planned Parenthood, and this is the case for many other unconstitutional state laws opposing the human rights of health care professionals.

The article linked addresses  the battle over   conscience rights in numerous other states, including Wisconsin, Washington, where the  pharmacists  are in trouble, and in several more states which have recently supported pharmacists of conscience.

Scroll down in this blog to see the prescriber information for  Plan B, which clearly contradicts  the false premise of the Wisconsin regulations,  forcing pharmacists to dispense Plan B (as well as all other hormonal birth control).    Expect a new  legal battle to erupt in that state as the pharmacy owners are forced to apply the legislation and fire conscientiously objecting pharmacists.  Wisconsin’s legislation targeting the pharmacists was hidden in budget bills by the democrat legislature, and passed without much notice.  The newer state government might find cost containment benefits in rescinding the legislation.

The legal battle  is  ongoing in the state of Washington,  which the pro-abortion Governor Gregoire and her Board of Pharmacy  might drive all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.   It might be the crowning achievement of their careers.
