If President Palin Decided Not to Enforce a Law, She Would Be Impeached

Gingrich: If Palin Took Obama Actions, There Would Be Calls for Impeachment.

First of all, get used to the idea of “President Palin” .

Then remember that the executive branch of government is supposed to enforce existing laws, not decide whether or not they’re constitutional.  That job goes to the courts if the laws are challenged.

Sooo  check out what Gingrich (quoted at Newsmax)   has to say about what would happen if a Republican did what Obama is doing.

“Imagine that Governor Palin had become president. Imagine that she had announced that Roe versus Wade in her view was unconstitutional and therefore the United States government would no longer protect anyone’s right to have an abortion because she personally had decided it should be changed. The news media would have gone crazy. The New York Times would have demanded her impeachment.”

  1. You are wrong. GW Bush did the same thing, and he was not impeached.

In fact, quite a few Presidents, from various parties, have done the same thing, since at least 1860.

LOTS of details are available on this website, which has a legal opinion written in 1994 by GW Bush's legal council:
