Buffett’s Billion-Dollar Tax Hypocrisy | NetRight Daily.

Warren Buffet recently made the news by suggesting that the rich should pay more taxes, and that he wouldn’t mind paying more.

The problem is that his company is currently attempting to avoid paying taxes to the IRS, and there may be up to a billion dollars of outstanding taxes owed by his company to the IRS, or in dispute.

Berkshire Hathaway struggled for 14 years with the IRS over the dividends received deduction, which was finally settled in the company’s favor in 2005.

For at least 20 years, and probably much longer, Buffett has been struggling to minimize his company’s taxes.

Why is Buffett not able to practice what he preaches?

Fall Guy: Kenneth Melson, acting ATF chief, gets moved

Ken Melson, the interim head of the ATF takes the fall for Obama administration’s (very illegal) Fast and Furious Operation. This guy met privately with Congressman Issa’s investigative committee earlier this summer. Perhaps this places the Obama administration on a tightrope. They moved Melson to the Office of Legal Policy, as a senior adviser on forensic science. Perhaps this is where they can keep him close by, where it’s easiest to watch him.

Found! Obama’s Uncle Omar

PICKET: Obama’s illegal uncle arrested; ‘Uncle Omar’ almost hits cop car, tries to call White House – Washington Times.

Omar Obama Onyango has surfaced due to a brush with police and a DUI charge. He apparently rolled through a stop sign and turned left, nearly causing collisions . He also is said to have “nearly rammed” a police car and to have had a breathalyzer test result of 0.14 mg/dl. The Washington Times article by Kerry Picket corrects other media reports which reported that Mr. Onyango actually collided with the police car.

Opon booking at the police station, ‘Uncle Omar’ was offered the opportunity to make a phone call. “I think I will call the White House,” was his reply, according to Framington police Lieutenant Delaney.

Uncle Omar, who now calls himself Onyango Obama, is mentioned in Obama’s book “Dreams from My Father” as one of the relatives who had emigrated from Kenya to America and was never heard from again. He now faces possible deportation as an illegal immigrant, in addition to DUI charges.

The Australian reports that Auntie Zeituni’s lawyer, Margaret Wong, of Cleveland, will also defend Uncle Omar.

More is available at the Boston Herald, which says that although Uncle Omar is an illegal immigrant, he has a valid social security number and driver’s license.

Kill Devil Hills: Aftermath of Irene

Pharmer sent a link to the Kill Devil Hills weather data, which was posted here yesterday, to the Drudge Report. Coincidentally, the Drudge crew elected to link up an Irene aftermath story from…. yes, Kill Devil Hills, saying that less than expected damage had occurred. Tropical storms are known to be VERY WET. Consistent with that fact, the main damage from Irene is from too much rain.

The media, with red faces, are still trying to tell us that Irene was a hurricane when it made landfall, but as we can see from the rest of the wind graph at Kill Devil Hills……. it really was a Tropical Storm. Even the wind GUSTS did not register at 50 mph, and sustained winds were well below that.

Obama might be kicking himself for ending the vacation early in order to “take command” of the disaster from the non-hurricane. Perhaps he can breathe a ginormous gust of hot air to dry the wetness left by Irene on the portion of the country to which he feels more attachment. (Those of us in flyover country have experienced his conspicuous detachment from our disasters.)

Government Raids on Gibson Guitars

Gibson Guitar company has been raided for the second time over their supposed use of rare (endangered ) wood in making musical instruments.

Gibson is suing the government (Forestry and Wildlife agency) over a half million dollars in materials seized in 2009. This second raid occurred just before the lawsuit trial date.

Indian authorities have certified the exportation of rosewood and ebony finger boards to be sent to Gibson guitars. The U.S. government interprets Indian law differently to state that somehow the fingerboards are not legally obtained by Gibson.

Note…… it’s not just Gibson guitars which utilizes these fingerboards from India. It’s obvious to any guitarist who has shopped for various instruments. Gibson is singled out among the many musical instrument manufacturers for abuse.

It’s Not A Hurricane: Irene Winds At North Carolina Weather Station.

NOAA’s Phony “Hurricane” Coming On Shore With 33 MPH Winds | Real Science.

The Real Science Blog provided screen shots of North Carolina coastal wind station results from Wunderground, showing no winds higher than 33 miles per hour.

Steven Goddard says this is barely a tropical storm. Take a look for yourself- wind stations ranging from 8.7 to 33 mph. This guy is pretty reasonable but Pharmer decided to add some data to corroborate. Here’s the AP report:

“MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (AP) — Hurricane Irene opened its assault on the Eastern Seaboard on Saturday by lashing the North Carolina coast with wind as strong as 115 mph and pounding shoreline homes with waves. Farther north, authorities readied a massive shutdown of trains and airports, with 2 million people ordered out of the way. “

At Wunderground they’re not using hallucinogens…. Here’s the Nag’s head forecast for the day:

The Nags head station was down, so Pharmer looked for a close one which is operating. Mind you, the storm is said to be 500 miles wide, and was said to hit the coast at 7:30 am. What’s close by……

Wind was observed to range from 6mph to 22mph at mid afternoon. Ike was no longer a real hurricane when it reached Indiana, but it was an all day event, producing higher sustained winds than shown at the Kill Devil Hills weather station in NC.

We’re going with the Real Science assessment that reports of the IRENE TROPICAL STORM have been greatly overblown, and much more panic has been induced than was warranted.

By the way, Steven Goddard is stepping up to his own domain… (just like the Pharmer). His blog is migrating to Real-Science.com. He might to need to buy hefty bandwidth with Drudge pointing to him from time to time. The real site crasher is Rush Limbaugh, who tends to bring the visitors all at once.

One wonders at the economic cost of dire and overblown weather conditions. It appears that people are losing faith in NOAA. This might be related to the climate change hoax, which had been espoused by top officials.

It’s the tenth anniversary of the 9-11 attack and Mayor Michael Bloomberg is excluding Clergy from the memorial event.

We should also draw attention to Bloomberg supporting the building of a Mosque there, but preventing St Nicholas Church, the only church destroyed in the attack, from being rebuilt.

In addition……. there’s no new World Trade Center. Bloomberg is not enough of a leader to facilitate such a recovery.

Bozell: The TeaPartiers are Not His Cup of Tea

Bozell: O’Donnell’s reaction to Piers Morgan was ‘downright bizarre’ – CNN.com.

This above opinion piece, supplied to CNN, perhaps to comfort them over their lost air time with Christine O’Donnell, castigates said former Tea Party candidate for walking out on an interview with Piers Morgan.

It is worth monitoring which pundits might be moving over to the elitist side, because ‘we the people’ need to know who our real friends are.

The elitists are identified by their attacks on us normal folk, the unwashed American citizenry who feel the call to right the wrongs of government, and particularly the portion who attempt to run for office.

Mr. Bozell’s opinion was cross posted over at News Busters, where Pharmer found it, and posted the following reply:
Says Mr. Bozell: “O’Donnell had no right to reject the questions.”……….. “O’Donnell had no right to walk off the set.”

Sorry, Mr. Bozell, this is still America. O’Donnell was not on that set by contractual agreement, nor force of any law. Therefore she was free to end the interview at any time. Also the media people can throw an interviewee off at any time. Those of us who have played the media game understand how this works.

It might have been in O’Donnell’s best interest to hang around, and smear little Piers with his own questions, but not many people watch CNN, and she’s probably well aware that her interests lie elsewhere.

As for sexuality issues……. Most of those “positions” were pulled out of the inexperienced O’Donnell because the media was having a field game with her religious affiliation.

Piers had O’Donnell on for a bit of sex-talk, and she apparently wasn’t in the mood. It’s a woman’s Right to say “no”.

Antares has a new topical birth control gel containing nestorone and estradiol in clinical trials. The dose is ‘one pump daily and rub it on’ (that means variable drug delivery). Their small, dose determining trial with 18 women is reported to have shown a ‘positive’ result regarding efficacy, with the effect on ovulation evaluated by progesterone levels and measurement of follicular development by ultrasound.

ABC seems to consider offering a new topical delivery system (gel instead of patch) as a ginormous medical breakthrough. The link to their video is being offered as amusement, rather than medical information.

It’s just another birth control drug.
