In response she has introduced Senate Bill 307, which puts in place a series of hoops for men to jump through in order to get Viagra. These include seeing a sex therapist, getting a cardiac stress test and supplying an affidavit from the sex partner, certifying the a state of impotency.
Perhaps she sees limitations on abortion as affecting women more, due to sex selective abortion practices.

The judge in the Edinburgh Court of Session ruled against the midwives, saying that their job was not covered by conscience protections in the Abortion Act.
Judge Lady Smith excluded the senior midwives of the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow from conscience protection because they were not actually performing abortions themselves.

Yes, birth control pills, when used for that purpose are recreational drugs, and almost all abortions are recreational procedures. They are optional, and support the pursuit of sex as a mini-vacation, purely for the fun of it.
This short editorial covers a lot of territory, moving next to the Texas rule mandating sonograms before abortions (allowing detection of ectopic pregnancies, and permitting more safety for the woman.) This regulation does not mandate that a woman be shown her sonogram, but does require that basic information be offered to her in order to support informed consent for the abortion procedure.

We know this from his refusal to sign an amendment excusing conscientious objection to funding and participating in abortion.
There is a fake conscience clause, so narrow as to be useless, excusing some theoretical institutions from covering chemical and surgical abortions. The Institute of Medicine has called for Obama to force the coverage of birth control and abortion drugs. The Dept of Health and Human Services, run by Kathleen Sebelius, who never met an abortion she didn’t love, has excluded pro-life groups from her meetings, and has accepted this recommendation to require new insurance plans to cover these drugs.
Archbishop Timothy Dolan has met with Obama, and has either been hypnotized by the rhythmic swaying of Obama’s head back and forth as he reads, or is too afraid of THE ONE to openly tell religious health care providers and employers that they’re screwed.
Pro-life Catholics and other Christians need to understand what the Obama administration has done, and need to consider this in 2012. It’s time to exercise that CONSCIENCE THING!

The media is screaming about Penn State covering up the *alleged crimes of Joe Sandusky. But they support Planned Parenthood, an established pedophile protector. The government is fully invested in the mission of planned parenthood to the extent of forcing us to pay for it, and holding all other health care hostage for their sacrament of abortion.
Coach McQueary is being flogged for failing to report Sandusky to the police immediately. He claims that he did discuss it with campus police, however. Pharmer is not so judgmental regarding McQueary because the guy probably was in shock and was not immediately sure if his eyes were telling him the truth. He was a grad student at the time, not a medical practitioner, and apparently NOT a kiddie porn user. Pedophilia is not part of everyone’s life experience. Most of the same people who castigate McQueary have been voting to support planned parenthood for years.

Jill Stanek’s blog featured some Aggie News, relating equine behavioral and biological phenomena to the abortion issue. Pharmer, being Pharmer, can’t pass up such hot issues as animal husbandry (that’s breeding livestock …ok.)
It’s been noticed that bringing in outside male zebras to prevent inbreeding at zoos has resulted in an extremely high miscarriage (abortion) rate among the mares. Horses share this difficulty, as do other animals such as some rodents. In the presence of the males from the home location, the mares which have been bred by outsiders will often lose their offspring. Some of the mares will copulate with the home males, and if unable to do so will be more likely to abort. It is surmised that this is a biological adaptation to the fact that the male equines will very often kill the offspring which resulted from relations with outside males. It is believed to result in a conservation of energy and resources for the mare to lose the offspring before birth rather than go through the effort of delivering a foal which will be killed anyway.
In one of the fluffy news pieces describing the phenomenon among horses, it was suggested that the mares could actually will the loss of the pregnancy if the circumstances regarding the presence of non parental males were untoward. Pharmer supposes that this notion is no more crazy than man-made global warming.
In a somewhat related phenomenon, the smell of urine from newly introduced males who did not breed with the female mouse will elicit failure of implantation, but does not cause loss after that stage. This is referred to as the Bruce effect, in which production of a functional corpus luteum is prevented. This effect is abated by the presence of familiar males, even if they did not breed with the female mouse. The Bruce effect is not seen in rats, and is a good deal different than what is being observed in horses.
It’s a whisper in the news……. You’d have to dig hard to find it. Obama gutted the regulations Bush had put into place to protect conscientiously objecting health care professionals from discrimination.
There were essentially no new provisions in Bush’s executive order, except to cause institutions to worry about receiving federal funds if they discriminated against health care professionals who refuse to kill humans in their practice.
Obama has returned the situation to its previous state: toothless conscience legislation, nearly unenforceable because unemployed health care professionals usually lack funds to bring civil redress when incidents of discrimination occur. Also, what remains of “protection” will only apply to what is obviously recognized as abortion to a layman, and sterilization. Objection to chemical abortions at the early stages of human development, and use of various biotech medical devices, unethically derived drugs, vaccines, transplants, implants (from killed humans) will not be covered.
Actually the situation is worse than it was previously, as the department of Health and Human Services has utterly no interest in hearing or cataloging incidents of discrimination. The head of this department, Kathleen Sebelius had no interest in enforcing medical standards applicable to abortion clinics in her home state of Kansas.
It is fortunate that the new Congress has shown some interest in this situation, otherwise it might be missed entirely by the public.
The actual repeal is gibberish, unless one has intimate familiarity with the underlying laws and regulations. Heritage Foundation has pretty much put it in English.
The Sebelius HHS will effectively leave conscientiously objecting health care professionals without protections, and all should be prepared to find new jobs or careers should a conflict between the employers mandates and personal conscience ever arise.
As previously, the protection of conscience for health care professionals will largely lie in the power of the internet, to expose institutions which discriminate against health care professionals who refuse to kill, and reduce private business, and the sources of charitable donations, funds and grants.
……..with good reason. Sister Carol heads up the Catholic Health Care Association (CHA), and she got a really cool pen from Obama for supporting his abortifacient health care plan.

New in the story is that Ms. Mareena Silva has moved out of her apartment and is no longer talking to media, supposedly on advice of her attorney.
There is no free abortion advice from Paul Doering of the University of Florida, as in the case of ABC reporting, though he is still referenced in this article.
This story is making its way around pro-life news media because methotrexate can be used for early abortions. Read on to get a more accurate view of why methotrexate is found in retail pharmacies, the poor job that the media does in presenting medical stories, and an example of who the media uses as an expert for retail pharmacy practice.
A error occurred at a Safeway pharmacy in which methotrexate, a drug used for chemotherapy, treatment of severe inflammatory disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, and abortions, was dispensed to a pregnant woman. It is important to understand that the usual patient who comes to a retail pharmacy for methotrexate is getting it for inflammatory conditions. The doses are normally a few to several 2.5mg tablets, (although larger sizes are now available), and the drug might come in a dose pack called Rheumatrex. It is usually taken once per week for those conditions.
This error occurred due to mixup in which Mareena Silva, of Ft. Lupton, CO, received a prescription intended for another patient, supposedly with the same last name and a similar first name.
Unanswered in most news coverage is whether Silva took a single dose of several tablets, which is frequently characteristic of orally administered methotrexate treatments, and is not characteristic of most oral antibiotic treatments. The usual dose for rheumatoid arthritis is quite a bit lower than the dose to kill a human embryo.
Yet to be found is whether Ms Silva was given methotrexate rescue treatment (leucovorin calcium,) which might conteract the assault by methotrexate upon folate metabolism to its active form, which is the basis of its toxicity to the human embryo or fetus, (and various rapidly dividing cells throughout the body).
Safeway is acknowledging their liability, and has offered to pay all medical expenses which result from this error.
Error prevention: At many retail pharmacies, scanning, name and birthdate checks are eliminating much of the possibility of these errors, but if the two Silva prescriptions were back to back and went into wrongly tagged bags before dispensing, nothing but extensive counseling with the bag opened and drug visible would have stopped this error. We know that many patients refuse such counseling, and that often there is not time to carry out extensive counseling on the use of medications at the pharmacy.
Expert commentary: This is a job for a person with retail pharmacy experience, as well as practical clinical knowledge. The media chosen point man of the day is one “distinguished service” professor from the University of Florida, Paul Doering M.S.. (ABC news has given his credentials incorrectly.) Doering is NOT quoted by ABC as suggesting THE RESCUE TREATMENT for methotrexate. As expected is the media favorite recommendation of abortion, from ABC:
“Doering, who did his master’s thesis on the drug”, [way back in 1975] “said methotrexate is the “poster child for why certain medicines shouldn’t be used in pregnancy. It’s such a well-known and potent cause of birth defects.”
In some instances taking the drug during pregnancy warrants termination, according to Doering.
“There are downsides to that and risks,” he said. “But if it were my wife or daughter, I would recommend it.”
To exemplify the quality of drug information brought to you by media experts, here is a blast from Paul Doering’s past from 2006 Drug Topics magazine, which is particularly salient during the time that Planned Parenthood is being called to task for practices related to what Doering has been quoted as advocating.
“Pointing out that OTC Plan B will be sold only in pharmacies and in health clinics, Paul Doering M.S., Distinguished Service Professor of pharmacy practice, University of Florida College of Pharmacy, said, said, “This is one of the times the FDA has publicly acknowledged that there can be or needs to be a third class of drugs. It’s a de facto third class of drugs because you can’t get Plan B in a convenience store or a supermarket or vending machine.”
Doering is skeptical about whether women under 18 will be prevented from obtaining OTC Plan B. “There are no pill police out there to enforce things. It’s voluntary enforcement on the part of pharmacists. Someone may present false identification. If you don’t believe these things are hard to enforce, just read an article on underage drinking. The intent is good, but the so-called closed system is going to be more like a sieve with leaks.”
Doering said he’s not worried about leaks because he thinks Plan B should be available for 14- and 15-year-olds. “That’s the reality,” he said. “Keeping it behind the counter and ensuring someone is 18—I would take that as a wink and a nod. If someone has a need to get a hold of Plan B, she will.””
Pharmer is hoping that Ms. Silva is now being offered better pharmaceutical care than is available from such media chosen experts as Paul Doering, and that she and her unborn child are spared the consequences of this pharmacy error.
Patients should not be afraid to call up the pharmacy and question any prescription drug which doesn’t make sense, or has an unexplained change.

Take a look at the actual bill. The hysterical pro-aborts are whining that women will die on hospital steps because some hospitals don’t grind up babies in utero, and suck out the chucks and juice. Rather they keep the kid in there as long as the mom can sustain it, deliver the kid early if the mom can’t, and try to keep both the mom and kid alive. Pro aborts seem to passionately hate any legitimate medical intervention that doesn’t result in the kid’s death. Otherwise why would it bother them that some people believe in preserving the mom’s life without PURPOSELY killing the kid?

‘(2) DEFINITION- In this subsection, the term ‘health care entity’ includes an individual physician or other health care professional, a hospital, a provider-sponsored organization, a health maintenance organization, a health insurance plan, or any other kind of health care facility, organization, or plan.
‘(3) REMEDIES-
‘(A) IN GENERAL- The courts of the United States shall have jurisdiction to prevent and redress actual or threatened violations of this section by issuing any form of legal or equitable relief, including–
‘(i) injunctions prohibiting conduct that violates this subsection; and
‘(ii) orders preventing the disbursement of all or a portion of Federal financial assistance to a State or local government, or to a specific offending agency or program of a State or local government, until such time as the conduct prohibited by this subsection has ceased.

‘(i) any health care entity that has standing to complain of an actual or threatened violation of this subsection; or

Bishop revokes Phoenix hospital’s ‘Catholic’ status.
He actually did it. Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted stripped St. Joseph’s Medical Center, in Phoenix of its Catholic affiliation. This came after a scandal in 2009, concerning a widely publicized abortion which took place there. That issue had already been addressed, but St. Joseph’s affiliation with the Mercy Care Plan , which provides care through the Arizona state medicaid program, required it to offer contraceptive counseling and other services antithetical to Catholic teachings. This contractual arrangement is said to be the tipping point to cause the dissolution of the Catholic affiliation
Mass may no longer be said at the hospital, and the Blessed Sacrament is to be removed from the Chapel.
Watch the changes which occur at St. Joseph’s in the aftermath of this “divorce” from Church affiliation. Will the hospital attempt to re-affiliate, or will it rely upon a closer relationship with the government for survival. Certainly the loss of Catholic affiliation will affect private donations to the Medical Center.

Obama began work to rescind Bush’s executive order and HHS regulations to protect the conscience rights of health care workers who refuse to kill their patients at the very beginning of life, immediately upon taking office. He was so busy with his unconstitutional, health care debacle that this project has been in limbo.
Not to worry. A physician shortage is integral to the rationing of care, and this can be exacerbated by denying conscience rights to those health care providers who refuse to kill in the practice of medicine. Obama intends to complete this project, having Health and Human Services rules promulgated in early 2011. Look for it.

Missouri State Rep. David Sater has introduced a conscience protection bill for pharmacists, who opt not to sell abortive drugs.
It is of course, opposed by Planned Parenthood, whose assessment of which drugs are abortive changes depending on the audience.
This bill is to address problems pharmacists have faced in the past for refusing to dispense drugs which end human life at its earliest stages.
Heather Williams, an adherent Baptist was fired in 2006 by Target in Missouri for refusing to dispense the morning after pill, a drug which can stop the implantation of an early human embryo, thereby killing it.

From the leftist position of the New York Times, choosing Archbishop Dolan as president of the USCCB is a conservative move.
However, Archbishop Dolan does not appear to be an actual conservative.

Medicare denies more claims for treatment than any private insurer. The idea that Obamacare will expand coverage while taking on more patients, wasting more money in administration, and driving out health care providers, is a total joke.
Archbishop Dolan is quoted by NYT:
“We should have been doing cartwheels” when the health care bill passed, he said, because the bishops had long supported expanding coverage. But he said the bishops could not endorse the legislation because they concluded there were “unborn babies that were in danger.”
If that quote is accurate, it would mean that he’s Lost in the Weeds on this issue.

If you will recall, members of the Black Panthers were charged with deterring voters from polling places during the 2oo8 elections. Video evidence was provided. This led to federal charges against the group as follows from the story:
“The Bush Justice Department brought the first case against three members of the group, accusing them in a civil complaint of violating the Voter Rights Act. The Obama administration initially pursued the case, winning a default judgment in federal court in April 2009 when the Black Panther members did not appear in court. But then the administration moved to dismiss the charges the following month after getting one of the New Black Panther members to agree to not carry a “deadly weapon” near a polling place until 2012.”
J. Christian Adams the former Justice Department Attorney is now leveling charges that the department shows persistent hostility towards civil rights cases involving Black defendants and White victims.
The above mentioned Obama administration agreement which apparently allows the Black Panther representative to resume carrying a deadly weapon at polling places in 2012 is significant cause for concern.
Get a closer look at this leader of the Black Panthers in Philadephia for whom the Justice Department dropped charges. He advocates killing White people and their babies as a means to get freedom. Pharmer wonders if this guy has noticed Obama’s affiliation with Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry which is exterminating nearly half of Black babies in the U.S. Is that getting freedom for him? The problem with congenital haters is that their actions and output make no sense.

Remember Cathy Cenzon-DeCarlo, who sued Mt Sinai Hospital in New York this past summer for coercing her to participate in an abortion procedure under falsely represented circumstances ? Though no medical emergency existed, this nurse was threatened with loss of her job and nursing license if she did not assist with the procedure.
Cenzon-DeCarlo, with the Alliance Defense Fund has initiated a second suit against the hospital in the State of New York, in addition to the initial Federal lawsuit which is on appeal, based on violation of her rights of conscience.
Meanwhile, eight more nurses have received an apology from Nassau University Hospital in Long Island for disciplinary action after they refused to take part in non-emergency abortion procedures.

Back to the present, it appears that the pro-life students who are hosting the GAP display at Calgary University might be expelled for their efforts, but appear to be willing to take that chance. Editor of the Lancet, Richard Horton, despite pressure from advocacy groups seeking UN grants, published a paper on Sunday showing a marked drop in worldwide maternal mortality rates.
Advocacy can sometimes gets in the way of science, Horton said, indicating his disappointment at the pressure.
Maternal deaths fell from a half million yearly in 1980 to about 343,ooo in 2008.
Delay of the story until after the UN meetings was sought, as it was felt that this good news would impede the ability of various groups to obtain funding for their various methods of preventing births, which includes, of course, abortions.

Pharmacist Orbin Eeli Tercero, on the run after “allegedly” forcing the abortion of his unborn child, has been apprehended in New York, and will face multiple charges in his home state of Pennsylvania.
In brief, Tercero was engaged to one woman, but had a second mistress on the side whom he made pregnant. He is charged with using misoprostil, a prescription-only, prostaglandin analog to produce a miscarriage of the mistress’s 13 week old unborn baby, without her consent.
This is one more example of circumstances under which abortion is not a woman’s choice, but she is made to have one anyway.
Perhaps this pharmacist will be back in practice in time for Obamacare. Given his attention to medical and personal ethics, he’d probably fit right in.

Filling up my email inbox are huge numbers of requests from various pro life organizations to sign petitions which demand removal of abortion from health care.
Very briefly, this is the explanation for an inability to sign on to most of these.
The premise from so many groups is that the problem of the Democrat health care plans will be solved with language removing abortion funding from the bill.
Many people incorrectly assume that removing funding will remove the abortion mandate. This is not so. Mothers will be coerced to abort unborn babies with untoward fetal diagnoses in any government run system, because there will be the threat of no health coverage for such kids. Health care professionals will still be coerced to participate in this and other unethical activity. This is the reality in other socialized medicine systems which lack funding for the care of premature infants, and those with significant congenital disabilities.
Denial of care at other points in development, with respect to early diagnosis using imaging, severe illnesses, and terminal illness, is also a sad reality in other government run health care systems, as well as the one planned for America.
Finally there is the problem of turning over our health care autonomy to an entity which is known to be corrupt. This is not a smart move. The control over our health care will be used by the federal government to control other aspects of our lives, including expression of religious beliefs.
Sorry to the pro-life liberals, this pharmacist (whose insights stem from health care experience), is ethically constrained from signing on to any aspect of the killer-government controlled health care.

Over at Newsbusters, Noel Shepherd caught excessively liberal Olberman displaying that he has no understanding of the causes of birth defects, and those listed as being influenced by prior abortions. Boy-Keith was trying to imply that the association of abortions with some birth defects suggests that Palin might have had an abortion.
Abortions can cause damage to the reproductive tract, most particularly increasing the problem of incompetent cervix. This leads to premature births, and the related congenital problems associated with prematurity. There are also some troubles associated with failed attempts to abort medically.
Down Syndrome is most often the result of trisomy 21, (three copies of 21st chromosome). This follows a nondisjunction event, during meiotic division to produce the gametes (sperm or oocytes) , unevenly allocating three copies of that chromosome to a resultant human individual. The entire chromosome need not be involved, There is Robertsonian translocation in which the critical part of the 21st chromosome might be attached to the 14th chromosome for example. This can be displayed phenotypically as down syndrome. There is also a minor mechanism producing Mosaicism, in which uneven chromosomal distribution occurs in cell divisions of the developing embryo.
You can see from the above mechanistic explanations that these have nothing to do with prior abortion events.
The imperfect chromosomal distributions occuring in the cell divisions are associated with pregnancies later in life, and this was the case for Palin’s fifth child, Trig.
Olberman has displayed that he has NO idea what causes Down syndrome, and was too lazy to check before he made a fool of himself.

The PC self esteem police are out in force, blue and red lights flashing, to display their concern for the Obama girls. It seems that Michelle, who leads the charge against obesity, had mentioned that the condition of her girls had touched off a little body mass index (BMI) discussion with the pediatrician.
Michelle had the temerity to touch upon this personal experience while speaking at an Alexandria Virginia event initiating her campaign against childhood obesity. Yes, she mentioned the pediatrician suggesting that the girls might be getting just a little chubby. The self esteem police are aghast……… fearing that the girls might be incited to binge eating disorders if Mama Michelle so much as mentions the issue of weight to them, or about them.
Far be it from Pharmer to rag on Michelle for this supposed sin against the self image. What Michelle said is fairly normal, and not a big deal at all. However it illustrates just how whacked out society is.
There were none from the leftie PC police mentioning the hugely abnormal Gaffe of Obama, speaking at the Town Hall in Johnston Pennsylvania, about his daughters, who were then SIX and NINE years old. In fact most of them, including this nut at the Politico, considered his behavior acceptable.
It’s not a normal father who speaks out publicly of his daughters, acknowledging their single digit ages, and mentions the possibility that they will be made pregnant, and have abortions.
The lefties have been talking to themselves for so long, that they don’t understand the people who would object to kids having sex, and getting pregnant at whatever age of minority. So few of them are personally involved in parenthood, that this raised no outcry among them.
It’s not likely that the opinions of most religious groups are of much significance to Obama, but is he so deluded that he thinks he won the respect of a single adherent Muslim when he made the above statement?
