Goldman Sachs Gave Almost a Million to Obama

$994,765 went from Goldman Sachs collectively, into the Obamanator’s campaign fund.

Obama is fake flagellating that corporation now. So many of his employees are from that company that this show of  castigating Goldman Sachs can’t be for real.

Mark Patterson is Timothy Tax Cheat Geithners chief of staff at the Treasury.   Adam Storch is head of the enforcement division of the SEC.   Gary Gensler is heading the Commodity and Futures Trading Commission.  Neel Kashari is heading the TARP bailout.    Pharmer doesn’t follow enough of financial news to list all the players, but knows that Goldman Sachs has also been hiring friends and former employees of Obama.    It’s  been an exchange program.

To make this show of an investigation more believable, Obama  should return those campaign funds from the 2008 election cycle.

UN Claims (So Be Wary) that India has More Cell Phones than Toilets

India has more mobile phones than toilets: UN report – Telegraph.

The story is that there are enough cell phones for almost half of India’s population, but only a third of the people  had access to “proper”  sanitation in 2008.

Pharmer recognizes that the UN is prone to exaggerating stories in order to promote their programs.   The infrastructure for cell phones is cheaper to build and maintain than the huge construction  of systems needed for a  supporting a toilet in every home.    There’s a wild, electronic industrial revolution going on in Asia, so this claim could be a shade  closer to the truth  than other stuff coming out of the UN.

Take home:  Giving to organizations  which dig for clean water supplies in various parts of the world  might be the  most efficient way to  support human life.

Learned it the Hard Way: No More Hookups

No hooking up, no sex for some coeds – CNN.com.

The media finds this acceptible since new secular organizations are reinventing the wheel.   And Lady Gaga sez it’s OK to be  “celibate” .  The reporter  doesn’t know that word  means “unmarried” and does not necessarily mean “abstaining from sex”.  But they’re really talking about the latter when they use the word “celibate”.

You see,  increasing numbers of college students are finding that hooking up is ultimately  depressing and destructive, particularly for the females, and ultimately also for males.

That most religious denominations of the world had understood this for eons, of course, cannot be acknowledged by such venues as CNN.

New 5-Day ‘Morning-After’ Pill Tested For U.S. Approval

New 5-Day ‘Morning-After’ Pill Tested For U.S. Approval.

Two useful bits of information in the above article, from  a tech news site (Physorg).

1) EllaOne, the new morning after pill from Europe is being tested for approval in the United States.

2) It’s efficacy in killing the early human embryo does not decrease over the 5 day period after sex, in which it is recommended for use.

Some  of the  Physorg  commentators  had sufficient education to recognize that the mechanism of EllaOne involves causing death of  the early human embryo.   Hat’s off to them.

Some  of the comments appended to the article are from those who  were unable to part from a religious notion that they could distinguish which humans had been ensouled by developmental stage.    These might  be drained  from the human gene pool  over time, by means of EllaOne, perhaps, despite Pharmer’s recommendations to the contrary.

As a progesterone receptor modulator with low glucocorticoid activity,   ulipristal   gained attractiveness as a birth control drug primarily due to its ability to cause endometrial atrophy.  That means, from a birth control standpoint :  no place for the human embryo to implant.

The Politics of Maternal Mortality

The Associated Press: Lancet: Sharp drop in maternal deaths worldwide.

Editor of the Lancet,  Richard Horton, despite pressure from advocacy groups seeking UN grants,  published a paper on Sunday  showing a marked drop in worldwide maternal mortality rates.

Advocacy can sometimes gets in the way of science,  Horton said, indicating his disappointment at the pressure.

Maternal deaths fell from a half million yearly in 1980 to about 343,ooo in 2008.

Delay of the story until after the UN meetings was sought, as it was felt that this good news would impede the ability of various groups to obtain funding for their various methods of preventing births, which includes, of course, abortions.

Lifenews notes that Ireland, a country with pro-life laws in place,  has the lowest maternal mortality rate, while Nepal,  a country with abortion on demand, has one of the highest rates.

Maternal mortality Increased by 42% in the United States between 1980 and 2008, according to the study.  During this period,  federal law permitted abortion at all stages of pregnancy.

The study by Christopher Murray and colleagues at Washington State was funded by……… believe it or not, Bill and Melinda Gates.

Bidens below average in charitable giving – Washington Times

Bidens below average in charitable giving – Washington Times.

Liberals want to give away YOUR money, not theirs.  Hence, Bidens, as in the past, are still tightwads in the charitable giving department.

Of $333,000 official income in 2009, Bidens gave $4,820 , or 1.4$.

Not impressive.

The Obamas,  who were more attentive to catching  up with the Palins,  gave a higher percentage of their $5.5 million income last year:  329,ooo or 5.9 percent.

Pharmer doesn’t think either of the families can keep up with  Sarah and Todd, however.   For one example,  Sarah   forked over her entire Ohio Right to Life speaker’s fee  (after tax portion) to the pro-life cause which she was supporting at the event on March 5th.

Sneering at a Niche Business that Didn’t Make It

Petula Dvorak – Virginia pharmacy had plenty of moral convictions, few clients.

The DMC Pharmacy, a pro life health care venture in Virginia has recently closed, due to business losses which the investor could no longer sustain.   Columnist Petula Dvorak did not pass up an opportunity to celebrate the failure of this health care establishment,  which catered to those who would prefer natural family planning to the artificial methods of birth control.

A sample of the style which ensconces Ms Dvorak  within the Washington Post:

“It makes little sense to make another stop to fill a prescription across the street for moral reasons, especially considering that Kmart is probably a regular shopping place for even the most devout Christians. I mean, where else can you get a $14.99 cubic zirconia cross, a $1.49 Blessed Mother candle, lawn fertilizer for that lawn your lovely offspring will play on and a crockpot for the church cook-off under one roof?”

Pharmer rewarded her efforts in the comment section appended to her column:

Repeating just a bit of the information given in an interview with this columnist-
The pharmacy itself grew at a rate perfectly acceptable for new chain/dept. store pharmacies, in many locations. Unfortunately since the staff was hired, and the pharmacy was freestanding, the investor needed extremely fast growth in the customer base in order to stay afloat. This was fairly unlikely for any freestanding pharmacy in  this location unless it had been mail order, and licensed to dispense in many states.
Yes, Ms Dvorak was informed about these and other pharmacy facts of life, but conveying the real business info would have robbed her of a supposed basis for sneering at another new niche business that didn’t make it.
