Obama Extends HHS Mandate, Sneaks News Out on Friday

Ed Morrissey at Hot Air is pointing out that insurance companies have not jumped for joy at the new birth control, abortion, and sterilization mandate that Obama is forcing on them. They know that it’s not really revenue neutral, especially up front, when they have to fork over one hundred percent of the costs. The supposed savings by preventing pregnancies are theoretical. Consider also that the pill induces conditions in women which require more medical attention: metabolic disorders and thromboembolic events, among others. No insurance companies have indicated an expectation of savings from Obama’s mandate.
The Hill brings up the point that no insurance coverage is free. The final cost is always coming from the total benefits package offered to the employee. If health insurance costs more, then less salary is offered.
There is also the issue of self insured employers. Many Catholic institutions are self insured, and one of the reasons for this originally could have been to avoid taking part in larger insurance pools that covered services which are not in line with Catholic teaching. Another reason would be cost containment.

THe HHS is is overturning doctrines of more than one Religion with this mandate. It might take a bit of time for the full response to come in.
Insurance companies are wondering what new unfunded mandates Obama will be imposing on them.

Tina Korbe has announced the St Patrick’s day/ March madness document dump from the White House. There is the advance notice of proposed rule making on preventative services policy quietly slipped out on Friday night when no one is looking. You should have heard about this in normal news venues so that you could have an opportunity to comment on the HHS rules expanding the mandate for coverage of birth control, abortion, and sterilizations.
Obama and Sebelius really don’t want to consider your opinions, and this is the reason for dribbling out the news when everyone is ready for a party weekend.
Yes the expanded mandate will cover Sandra Fluke’s apparent wild sex life at the university. Student insurance will be required, that offers free birth control, abortions and sterilizations. The Universities will of course have to cover the insurance and pass the costs to the students as part of tuition and fees.

Celestial Discharge: Creator of Red Bull,

The inventor of Krating Daeng, a.k.a. Red Bull, has died of natural causes at age 89. Chaleo Yoovidhya, founder of T.C.-Mycin (an antibiotics producer), made an energy drink that was marketed to the workers and truck drivers of Thailand. Later in the 80’s he teamed up with an Austrian businessman, Dietrich Mateschitz, to transform Red Bull into its current, hugely popular, globally distributed form. Chaleo was ranked as one of the world’s richest men, amassing several billion dollars in assets.

The Bangkok press explains that Krating Daeng means ‘red gaur’, a rare bovine creature that lives along the border with Cambodia. ‘Krating’ was changed to “bull” once the drink was distributed globally.

Funeral rites for Chaleo will last all this coming week at the Wat Khrua Wan Worawiharn in Bangkok. Pharmer hopes God smiles on the guy who kept truck drivers awake, and on the road these many years.

Caffeine is wonderful.

Pamela Geller catches NYT Anti Catholic Bias

The atheist group, Freedom from Religion, was able to run an Anti-Catholic ad in the New York Times last week. Pamela Geller designed an analogous anti-Islam ad based on the first ad, and predictably the NYT has refused to run it. Their reason is that the Muslims do not have an edict to turn the other cheek like Christians do. What they tell us is that they’re worried about security of the U.S. troops. You can see the two ads side by side HERE
Geller states that her ad was designed specifically to reveal bias, and points out that the New York Times was not worried about the security of U.S. forces overseas when it published extensively on Abu Ghraib.

Pharmer suspects that the New York Times editors are protecting themselves, not the troops. They rely heavily on Christians to turn the other cheek. What might appear to be a their bias towards Islam is really physical cowardice, rather than a true ideological preference for that religion. Both Catholicism and Islam are far too restrictive for their lifestyles.

Bad Building Design at New St. Paul Planned Parenthood Mega-Mill

Pro life  Action Ministries shot this cell phone video at the new $16 million, three-story,46,000-square-foot Planned Parenthood facility in St. Paul, Minnesota. As you can see from the inefficient conveyance of this patient to a hospital, the building and signage  was not designed with the safety of patients in mind. It would appear from this video that patients who have been injured at the abortion clinic experience a BACK ALLEY exit.  More  commentary is at Operation Rescue.

Below is the satellite pic of this new facility under construction. It’s incorrectly identified as Lincoln Distributing LLC. Look at facade and count the windows. Yep.. it’s the same mega Planned Parenthood shown in the video. We did not get to see if the patient was wheeled out of the receiving bay (for delivery trucks).

What You Lose When You Sign That Organ-Donor Card – WSJ.com

What You Lose When You Sign That Organ-Donor Card – WSJ.com.

According to Dick Teresi,   your family loses rights over the disposition of your body, and the means by which organs are obtained  if you sign that donor card.

The tests for determining brain death mainly evaluate brain stem activity.   The author recommends cerebral blood flow studies to give more certainty that the higher cortical areas are dead.

A trip to the Amazon  page for Teresi’s book on the subject reveals many angry comments, mostly from people offended by the WSJ article, who did not read his entire book.    People who have received transplants, or who have donated the organs of their loved ones, desperately want to believe that all is well.  Their emotional reactions provide  a good impetus to buy that book, which Pharmer has just done.

Pharmer understands that in the health care field, there are bioethicists, who function to assure  their own definitions of ‘quality of life’.   There are diagnostic errors, and there are naturally cover ups .     The Hippocratic Oath is no longer used at most medical schools, because it strictly forbids killing or purposely harming a patient.

The WSJ author’s recommendation that families  oversee the donation process more closely to assure proper treatment is  a sensible precaution.  Those who want the organs might consent to more thorough examination and more respectful, humane treatment of the dying or deceased patient.   It will also give greater assurances to transplant  recipients that no human being was  abused or killed to obtain an organ for them.

Perhaps a return to the ideals of the Hippocratic oath would  increase  public trust in the health care professions and prevent unnecessary transplant delays .

Why Sex Stopped Being FUN, and became a Job and a Human Right

Arizona Birth Control Bill Allows Employers To Fire Women On The Pill Based On Religious Beliefs – International Business Times.

Above is a  touch stone,  a  headline from International Business Times, making  a false claim about Arizona legislation which would make employer coverage of employees’ birth control optional.

This AZ house bill 2625  allows employers to avoid covering recreational use of hormones for birth control based on their religious beliefs.  Women can still get coverage for medical need for indications other than birth control.  This bill does not  give permission to employers to fire employees for use of birth control pills. If the woman is obtaining her own pills, it would be a violation of HIPAA regs for the employer to have the info, and a violation of a bunch of other laws for the employer to fire for that reason. Nice try. The IB Times needs to surrender to the fact that the “war on women” ploy is not working. Birth control pills are just too cheap to merit such a whine-fest. Go back to that other loser “abortion”.
The headline  is an example of how completely unreliable the mainstream press is, as well as the ACLU and Huffington Post.

There are  many heated debates  over whether employers and insurance companies should pay for birth control pills when used to prevent or stop  reproduction.

One of the commenting individuals expressed offense that Pharmer  used the term recreational drug to describe birth control  drugs, and recreational  sex to describe the kind people have when they don’t want to make babies.  Specifically the idea was introduced that sex,  with the desire to avoid reproduction,  is NOT  recreational.   Pharmer thinks that when sex stops being fun, it is time to quit.

Sex becomes a job  or a human right when people want others to pay for it!!!   It rises to the level of a religious freedom issue.   If a person has a belief that their sex is NOT fun, and it is a ritual activity that has become a JOB, then others should  respect it as a human right under the first amendment and pay for it, even if that  practice violates their own religion.    It’s Sandra Fluke all over again, and  despite  this admission from the Left  that sex is not fun anymore,  Rush Limbaugh  got in trouble for saying that it was a Job for Sandra.

Eureka!   The  pattern is elucidated:   Recreation stops being recreation, or becomes an offensive term when people start wanting to be PAID for what should be considered FUN!! They turn it into a job, a  ritual, or a human right!

It’s ‘welfare’ gone WILD!!!

Drudge Hates Santorum

Pharmer has gotten the impression in the last few months that the staff of the Drudge Report are put off by Santorum’s personal religious values. They’ve been consistently presenting him in a less complimentary or positive light in comparison to the other candidates.

The latest ploy is to subtly imply that Rick Santorum was photographed on an all gay cruise. They utilized Buzz feeds photo and caption to accomplish this.

Buzzfeed sourced Joe.my.god. for this pic. That blogger also does not like Santorum but was honest enough to explain the snapshot more accurately:
Shortly after telling Puerto Ricans that they are unworthy of statehood unless they make English their official language, Rick Santorum soaked up the poolside rays at a local resort. Also staying at that resort were passengers from an Atlantis all-gay cruise, who snapped the above photo. Thanks to JMG tipsters James and Guy for sending this along.

Even white boys must get sun exposure for vitamin D production. Apparently Rick has eaten too much restaurant food while on the road campaigning. He has publicly apologized for the existence of the unsolicited photo, saying this is “not a pretty sight“. Pharmer is comforted by the fact that Santorum is average 53 year old American build and not a body sculptor. Guys who look in the mirror too much are not normal.

Santorum apologizes

Blagojevich’s Last Day of Freedom | NBC Chicago

Blagojevich's Last Day of Freedom | NBC Chicago.

Blagojevich is remembered for his governor’s edict to force Illinois pharmacists to dispense ALL birth control drugs without delay, regardless of clinical (e.g. thromboembolic considerations) or conscientious (e.g. abortifacient properties) objections. Perhaps Obama and Sebelius, who are imposing more extreme mandates on insurance companies, and the health care industry, will eventually obtain a similar opportunity for meditation and reflection as has been afforded to Rod Blagojevich.

We Knew it All Along, Abortion Coverage Costs Insurance Enrollees $1 Per Month

Obama Admin Finalizes Rules: $1 Abortions in ObamaCare | LifeNews.com.

There is a governmental mandate for U.S. Citizens to purchase health care insurance, or else pay a fine which will increase over the years. The Supreme court is reviewing this mandate at the present time.

Obamacare will be forcing taxpayers into various insurance plans which may cover abortion. There will no opt out in the individual plans for those with religious objections to abortion. There is a separate one dollar fee to be paid per month to subsidize the abortion coverage, with no opportunity to opt out of that particular element of the plans.
People will be herded into this form of insurance as the various companies offering other options, are forced out of business by the onerous regulations imposed on them by Obamacare.

In addition, there is the brand new mandate for insurance companies to offer “free” birth control, which, of course will be covered by all who pay into the plans. The video below explains:

Obama and his media were expecting the women of the U.S. to fall at his feet with joy at the prospect of birth control, abortions and sterilizations funded by others. Recent polling shows a dip in his approval rating, suggesting that women are more interested in an end to the upward spiral of gas and energy costs.
