U.S. House Judiciary Committee Approves Ban on Federal Abortion Funding
The vote split along party lines to allow a bill to ban federal spending on abortion to go to the House Floor in 2011, with 100 percent of the Democrats opposing the bill, as expected.
The confused Hank Johnson (who fears that Guam might capsize due to overpopulation) offered comic relief for the day. Quoted at The Hill:
“Some might argue that life begins with the potential, with just one sperm … with just … one egg, so if we decided that we’re going to make it illegal for a man to get a vasectomy because we believe that life begins at that point, what’s to stop us from doing that?”
“We can argue arbitrarily that life begins at conception, which is the sperm penetrating the egg. We can decide it like that, but you are not respecting those who think that sperm or the egg standing by itself represent the potential life and that potential should not be cut short,”
Amusing as this is…. and even the legislators are said to have stifled their responses…. Pharmer has heard this, and stranger stuff coming from the abortion supporters.

ATF Let Hundreds of U.S. Weapons Fall into Hands of Suspected Mexican Gunrunners – The Center for Public Integrity
In an effort to obtain prosecutions of criminals higher up in the food chain, the ATF purposely allowed guns to be sold to intermediaries, then pass into Mexico where they were used in various crimes involving bandits and the drug cartel. The majority of the guns involved in this scheme remain at large.
This caught a little more than usual non-attention due to the slaying of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. Two of the weapons associated with this crime were traced to the ATF Fast and Furious operation which allowed those guns to pass into Mexico.
Whistle blowers within the ATF are expecting to be jobless due to having provided some of the information linked above. It’s worth a read.

BYU has suspended a star basketball player for the year, for reasons that the school itself did not broadcast, but you know this would leak out. The Cougars’ prospects of success in this season’s play are expected to be significantly diminished by the loss.
The athletes are expected to adhere to the sex restrictions of the Mormon religion… and OOPSIE daisy.
Anyway, Brandon Davies appears to be taking his lumps like a man instead of whining. This is a redeeming quality.

First Congressman to Speak Up for Impeachment

Trent Franks, Republican congressman of Arizona has cited Obama’s refusal to defend existing law as grounds for impeachment. There exists a whole laundry list of possible other grounds, beginning with that job offer to Joe Sestak connected to his vote for obamacare.
Illinois: Making the Names of Gun Owners Public
The AP has submitted a request for a list of all the gun owners in Illinois. The State Police are not in favor of releasing the info, while it appears that the Attorney General is in favor.
Greg Gutfield, the author of the above linked article, notes the probably unintended consequence: causing more citizens of Illinois to buy guns for self protection, and so that their homes would not be targeted by burglars, etc.

No Surprise: Obama Administration Will Not Prosecute Planned Parenthood
This was a given…… it is OK for Planned Parenthood to violate the law regarding reporting abuse of minors and sex trafficking, so long as Obama is in power. The FBI will not be investigating, Attorney General, Eric Holder says.
The Obama administration will continue to pick and choose which laws will be enforced. Planned parenthood is exempt.
