Cut it Out, You Vampires!

A  44 year old Maori woman of New Zealand woman has suffered partial paralysis from a stroke which has been attributed to a HICKEY!

Yes, she suffered a clot of an artery leading to her brain after receiving a “love bite”  from her significant other, says Dr. Teddy Wu, who had treated the woman  at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland.   The case has since been reported in the New Zealand Medical Journal.

Docs say that the damage might have been worse had the difficulty not been quickly treated.

Don’t look for accurate medical reporting on this in the regular media.   You’ll  see stuff  implying  ‘warfarin dissolved the clot‘  (warfarin  helps to prevent clots), and the ‘clot in the artery…. traveled to the heart’…. (no, arteries lead away from the heart to the periphery, except in the lungs).     Someone find that journal article.

For the Guys who Don’t Use Deoderant: Axiron

Australian Firm To Sell World’s First Armpit Testosterone Lotion In US.

Acrux, a Melbourne, Australia drug company is bringing Axiron, a new topical testosterone product to market in the U.S., to treat male hypgonadism (testosterone insufficiency).

Axiron is designed to be rubbed into the armpits, where absorption is believed to be most efficient, barring hair and other obstructions, such as deoderant ;-).

This product will compete with Androgel and Testim, which already occupy niches the U.S. prescription market.  The backs of the shoulders or upper arms are the preferred sites of application for these products.  Directions specify areas which are covered by a short sleeve shirt.

Acrux is not yet marketing this product in Australia, but claims their new testosterone  lotion dries faster and is less tacky and sticky.

FIVE Years Later – “News” of the missing brain.

Family Suing NYC After Teen’s Brain Found In ME’s Office « CBS New York- News, Sports, Weather, Traffic and the Best of NY.

This is “news” of a highschool kid who died traumatically in a car accident (in 2005).  An autopsy, badly handled by the NYC coroner, resulted in double trauma to the family.   A couple months after the accident, the crash victim’s friends, on a school field trip,  saw the kid’s brain, with name attached, on display at the morgue, supposedly awaiting testing.

The shocked family insisted on having the brain returned, as it was held without their permission.  They exhumed their deceased son, and reburied him with his brain.

And…….. because of the speedy judicial and news processes, we are hearing about it FIVE years later.
