Rob Portman: Plastic Elastic Ethics

Suddenly something which is wrong becomes right if you think it might make your kid happy.

Rob Portman has reversed himself on the issue of gay marriage because his son has come out as gay.  This had been in the background as a possible reason that Mitt Romney did not choose Portman as vice presidential candidate.

More likely, Romney felt that he had no prayer unless he threw a bone to the Tea Partiers by choosing a more conservative person to run with him.

Rob Portman’s reversal has more to do with the politician’s instinct to appease, compromise and get along.   Certainly it will not do his son any good.    Kids don’t really need their parents to shift and change with whatever new lifestyle the kids choose to take on.  The kids would benefit more from knowing that parents have firm and strong moral beliefs that don’t change with the latest behavioral eruption, and that the love from their parents is constant, despite the disagreements.    Love and agreement are not the same thing.

Portman reveals himself to be just another person who doesn’t know that marriage is a social structure for the purpose of protecting  children.  We could perhaps help him by reminding him of how babies are made, in case he forgot.  Or we could  point him to Homovox,  or to David Mainwaring so that he could understand governmental manipulation, and social problems that accompany the push for gay marriage.

Some Prominent Republicans are Outing Themselves on Gay Marriage

Obama’s death panel has relegated the Republican party to palliative care, and here’s one more reason why we should not attempt to intervene in the decision.

Eighty, so-called prominent republicans have signed an opinion that there is a constitutional right to gay marriage.  They have OUTED their complete ignorance of the Constitution.  Going over the names, few should be seen as a surprise.  If you care to check the list, click HERE.

People need to get over the idea that any marriage at all is a constitutional right.  The U.S. constitution is silent on the issue of marriage and leaves it up to the people to decide how it is to be recognized socially.

Human rights are possessed by an individual, and they end where another begins.  All marriages are done with permission, coming from each partner.

There is also no human right to sex, for the same reason, as it impinges upon another person, and therefore requires permission.

Marriage ought to be handled by the religious organizations.  It originated with these groups as protection for the rearing of progeny.  The social recognition of marriage has served the purpose of stabilizing the environment for children to reach adulthood safely.

So many people have lost sight of the original reasons for local government impingement upon marriage, and are now using it as the vehicle for granting government mandated benefits.   Initially this applied to couples with children, but it has vastly expanded with the bloating of government.     In the military it has recently been decreed that unmarried  same sex partners of military personnel are eligible for certain benefits, but opposite sex partners are not, (even though the military chaplains may officiate same sex marriages).

Pharmer proposes that the government remove itself from the marriage business entirely.  Its various and self contradictory interventions have left a complete mess, which has nothing to do with the protection of children, or with committed relationships between people.

Let the churches handle marriage for those who respect it as a sacrament before God, and a commitment between each other, and to protect  resultant children.     Let the rest of the people who want to play house, draw up their own legal contracts and sign them with their lawyers present.

Obama Dumps Gay Marraige Again

Obama announced on MTV that he won’t be pushing gay marrage in his second term. He milked that for as much money as he possibly can, and doesn’t need the issue anymore. Apparently the Defense of Marriage Act is going to stay on the books.
Here’s the REAL truth. Even though Obama has Personal affinity for gay issues, he also has future ambitions after the presidency. He’s too young and egotistical to fade into the sunset like a good ex-president. The Islamic nations are not going to want him as head of the U.N. or in any other major position of global leadership if his sympathies and propensities remain a public matter.
Politics is a tightrope, you know.

Pharmer Thinks Obama is Out the Door- Black Community is Turning Away

American Blacks have been suffering most under the policies of Barack Hussein Obama. There’s no surprise to Pharmer that he’s losing their votes bigtime.
What’s the worst problem? They don’t like the increased unemployment, the attack on the family, and Barack’s gay marriage endorsement.
Rebel Pundit did some interviews in the Black communities of Chicago, and the results are worth a look.

Cops: LGBT Volunteer Shoots Family Research Council’s Security Guard

Cops: LGBT volunteer shoots conservative group's guard – CBS News.

Floyd Corkins II has been arrested for the shooting of a security guard in the lobby of the Family Research Council, a socially conservative group based in Washington DC.

Corkins has been a volunteer at the LGBT Community Center in Washington DC for about a half year. Apparently the FRC’s stance on gay marriage, and in support of Chick-fil-A had served as an irritant to the shooter, although his motive is officially said to be unknown.

The security guard, who has been called a hero by the D.C. police chief, has been hospitalized, in stable condition. He had been shot in the arm when he stopped the gunman in the lobby. He then wrestled the suspect to the ground. The FBI is said to be investigating the incident.

Alcee Hastings was offended when Allen West had Chick-fil-A catered at a Congressional Black Caucus meeting about six months ago.

Everyone was deeply offended says Hastings, though Angela Melvin, a spokesperson for West reports that not a plate of Chick-fil-A food was left after that meeting.

The Huff-Po reports on this event in the light of the latest free speech controversy involving the restaurant chain, though Allen West employed their services a half year earlier.

Pharmer calls a WAAAAAAMBULANCE for Alcee Hastings, and posts a more useful message from Allen West.

Dems Dump Their Senate Primary Winner in Tennessee

Mark Clayton, who won the Democrat primary to run against Republican Senator Bob Corker, has been dumped by his party for being too conservative.
Clayton is vice president of a group called Public Advocate of the United States. Below are ideas which this group upholds, (quoted from their own website) which are ANATHEMA to the Democrat party,

A federal traditional marriage (man-woman) amendment to the Constitution to defend tradional marriage from assaults from those who claim to promote “same sex marriage”;

School prayer and the freedom of religious expression in public places;

Faith-based and community initiatives;

Pro-life legislation;

The promotion and protection of the Boy Scouts, organized sports and other activities that reinforce morality, accountability and leadership in our youth;

Tax cuts and the exposure of wasteful “pork barrel” spending for the benefit of liberal special interests;

Equality under the law, regardless of one’s sexual orientation.

The Tennessee Dems so strongly oppose these values that they threw out the winner of their primary, and have essentially conceded the Senate race to the Republicans.

Gay Employees at Chick-fil-A Caught in the Middle.

Gay Chick-Fil-A Employees Reveal What It Has Been Like To Work There Lately – Business Insider.

We have some indication that Chick-Fil-A hasn’t been worrying about their employee’s private sex lives in the above article. But worklife is different now. Gays working for the company have been caught in the middle of the leftie war against their company, which was touched off by CEO Dan Cathy’s personal belief about gay marriage.

Apparently the homosexual employees are either getting blamed for hating gays, because of the gay marriage issue, or being thanked for opposition to it.

Some of what they hear is off point and crazy: “I hope you choke on your chicken” and either support or opposition because “your company hates gays”.

The situation of homosexual employees at Chick-fil-A brings home the point that everyone’s lives would be easier, including the those of gays, if the lefties would quit their war on freedom of religion. We notice that the lefties prefer to attack Christians, for opposing gay marriage, while at the same time supporting the sects of Muslims who chop the heads off of homosexuals.

Another case in point: In the U.S. HIV remains largely an affliction of men who have sex with men. Leftie heroes,Obama and Kathleen Sebelius, are working to close down the Catholic Health Care Institutions in the U.S. by insisting that they participate in birth control, sterilizations and abortion. By this means they will be shutting off a large proportion of care for patients with HIV. It’s estimated that world wide, 25% of health programs for HIV patients are provided by the Catholic Church. which has been at the forefront of that mission from the beginning.

You can click on the photo gallery below to see a collection of crowded Chick-Fil-A restaurants on Aug 1. Americans are responding to a statement that Chick-Fil-A does not represent Chicago values, and efforts to prevent restaurants from being opened there and in Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and San Francisco.
All over the U.S. the 1600 Chick-Fil-A restaurants have been enjoying booming business, and even some referrals from competing fast food places, on this  Appreciation Day.
